What Happened to the good radio shows of The Hudson Valley. Its so hard for me to listen to such a good radio station such as WSPK or WPDH and hear the bad dj’s they have on the air. What happened to the talent. I like rock music but I really hate to listen to WPDH because first off they are way to dirty for my kids to listen to when they are in the car and Cooper sounds like the radio station found him in a crack house. His voice is so terrible I don’t understand him when he talks. So I turn on WSPK which my kids love, I cant bear to listen to the dj stutter, the stuttering is so bad that I get embarrassed for his boss. I used to love to listen when Woodman was on but I don’t understand the logic with this new show. The only thing I can come up with is they probably don’t pay the guy very much money, but at least find someone who can speak without stuttering. It ruins the reputation of the radio station. Am I alone on this one?

I hate to tell you Chris Marino is big market and has worked in and has programed stiaton in big markets. I love the Chris Marino and The K104 Morning Show. Keep up the good work!

Well Roger it is obvious to all that you are an employee at Pamal. All you do is dip your pro-Pamal comments into threads that are tearing down your company, so from this point on whenever I see a post from you I will just take it as null and void. The proof being your defense of Chris Marino in this current post. The person who started this topic is dead on point. Morning Radio in the Hudson Valley is the worst it has been in years. It was at its best a couple of years ago when K&M and Woodman were the tops in mornings. Since the void left when both shows decided to leave the Valley, radio has done nothing but go down hill. K&M had a bunch of benchmark bits that they would do, you could set a clock to tune into to your favotire bit. Would man was the same. Now these pretenders to the throwns of morning radio are just awful. Coop and Tobin are a waste, its all talk and a bunch of forced laughter to make John Tobin think he is some sort of comedic genius. They are awful, and you can tell there is abosolutly no prep that goes into that show. They talk about absolute nonsense. On Fridays they bring in some canned laughter to make Tobin feel funny enough that all he does is interupt the real comedians who come in with his bad jokes. Coop and Tobin, I am sorry but real comics tour the united states doing comedy in comedy clubs not in local fire houses and client owned restaurants. Maybe the bosses on Pendell road should wake up early and tune into the garbage being spued on the airwaves and realize that is the reason they are having problems keeping sponsors on, and not so much the economy as they think.

Now onto the abortion of a morning show host in Chris Marino. Chris seems like a really nice guy, I will give him that, but being a nice guy has nothing to do with being a morning show host. He is a studdering mess who uses nothing but crutch words and he cannot complete a thought. "ya know" It is a mess of show with anywhere from 4-7 people in the studio at a time. It is real hard to listen to so many people stepping over each other. I am even wondering if Scotty airchecks them ever or even tunes into the show, becuase it is that bad! Once again they all seem like nice people, but nice doesn't make you cut for mornings. The reason why is where are the benchmark bits? They are so bad they read the horroscopes every mornning. What is that? Why would you waste airtime with such nonsense? The funniest thing I have heard on that show since it has hit the airwaves is the Michael Phelps song, but once again was that them or did they swipe it from a prep service. Collectively all 7 of them do not deliver one once of funny.
Once again I think they really need to work on the basics with Chirs before we put them in a catagory of being a good morning show based on their personalities and where they came from before they got here. I will say Bill Beale has the most talent on that show and he seems to run it a lot smoother the mornings Marino is off.

Finally back to Roger, under your name here it says you enjoy airchecking radio. Dude... know what to listen for before you claim that that's your hobby because you have no idea what should go into an aircheck.

Maybe someday soon radio will get back to normal here when somebody upstairs at both of these powerhouse stations wakes up and listens and realize they both could use some new talent. None of these show could possibly have any teir one listeners because both of them offer up nothing but soupy dreck.

Coop & Tobin are not even 'listenable'. Tobin probably has some dirt on Benfer. The sound of Coop's voice makes my skin crawl.

Chris Marino is just horrible as well. Yes, he had big shoes to fill with Woodman's departure, but Woodman's been gone for quite awhile now and this guy can't seem to get his act together.

These guys are not worth the money they are bringing in. In the meantime everyone's cutting back and these guys collectively bring in about 1/4 million dollars. Makes you really think.

It's a sad state.

Radiobastard, I was just makeing a comment. Do you have have to work in radio to make comments here? Fresnoradio, Do you work in radio?

No I am not a employee of Pamal! In fact I do not work on or for any radio station. In fact I am on Social Security Disability because I am learning Disable. I have a speech problem. I am just a loyal listener of K104 and have been from 1984 when Mark Bolger was doing nights and Jim Hartman was on in the afternoons and John LeMieux was doing mornings. I can also reember when Scotty Mac started with K104 on the night show. His first night show was on New Years Day. I also do not live in the Hudson Valley! I live in the state of Pennsylvania. I live about 30 minutes a way from Scranton and about 1 hour and a half a way from the Hudson Valley just off I-84. I can pick up K104 were I live in Pennsylvania. The Chris Marino and The K104 Morning Show is a very good show on a Top-40 radio station.

We are also talking about two different formats here. WPDH being a Rock format and WSPK being a Top-40 format. WPDH being a Rock format it has a morning show that fits a Rock station format. WSPK being a Top-40 format is has a morning show that fits a Top-40 format.

The Hudson Valley is very lucky because all of the morning show are live and local but here in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, Pennsyvania there are some station that are live and local and are some that do not have live and local morning shows. Turn K104 in the mornings because I do not care for some of the radio stations in the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, Pennsyvania market.

double_d1965, With the cuts back. Thing a very bad every were. Radio is not the same any more. There is alot more voice tracking around now. Do not cut backs in radio. If things do not better soon then there will be cut backs and more voice tracking and radio broadcasting companys may do away with promotions. I heard that WHTZ Z100 has stopped all promotions.

Pamal Broadcasting already made cut backs in the Gainesville, FL cluster. I will state this one more time. I am not a employee of Pamal. I am just a loyal listener and a loyal reader of www.radio-info.com

I hope you guys remember that WPDH tryed having Reno and Frankenberry on in the morning. Reno came from WBLI 106.1 a Top-40 station. Frankenberry also worked on K104 before going to WPDH. It was the mangers of WPDH that took the Reno and Frankenberry show off and went with Cooper and John Tobin.

Chris Marino has worked in some major markets. Market 7 Philadelphia and market 12 Miami. Chris worked on two staions in Philadelphia WIOQ Q102.1 and Alice 104.5. He worked on two stations down in Miami the first one was WHYI Y100.7 and he was PD of WLDI WILD in Miami.

Wavvemaker101, Do you know why Jack Hammer and Andre are so good? It is because they were on K104 with The Woodman. Do you know if Jack Hammer or Andre has worked in a major market?

If we can look at the ratings from the last book. Just for WPDH, WSPK,WBPM, and WBWZ.

WPDH 8.0
WSPK 7.1
WBPM 2.2
WBWZ 2.2

The ratings tell me that WPDH and WSPK had a very good book. People must like Cooper and John Tobin to make them number 1 in the ratings and people must like Chris Marino and The K104 Morning Show to make them number 2 in the ratings. WBPM is still a new station with a bad signal. I have a hard time getting WBPM 92.9 at my bother in-laws condo in Wappingers Falls. I hope one day WBPM will get a good signal. I like Jack Hammer and Andre. WBPM is trying to take listners away from WPDH. Also any one that lived in the Hudson Valley and be came a listner of WPDH when they went rock back in 1976 is still listnering to WPDH today. My bother is one of them. He knows nothing about WBPM 92.9, with that being said that is why WBPM is number 9 in the rating. WBWZ checked in at number 9 in the ratings also. The morning guy Mark Bolger did nights and then moved to mornings on K104 before going to WBWZ.

Reno And Frankenberry would have worked if it was given more time to gel. Seemed like it was musical morning shows for awhile there.

Yes I saw that Chris Marino is gone from K104, I wonder who will be able to fill that slot, if he couldn't fill Woodman's shoes, Who can?, It will be interesting come next week!

Well Bill Beale and Tory Grace are filling the slot now. I hope that they will stay on the morning show. As far with Chris Marino I hope he finds some thing soon.

So, whats the story? Was it money? Doesnt seem like just Bill and Tony filling the void was the big "master plan".

All of those posts just go to confirm in my own mind that when you get a lousy one it's awful - especially one who is simply intolerable, or as you say, "unlistenable", like fingernails on a chalkboard - the disc jockey version of that guy who tried to do "Ring of Fire", on American Idol. I don't watch, but I hear the clips, and wouldn't you know he lasted another week and sounded just as bad. You need something to fill space until you get down to the real talent at the end.
