What Are Your Favorite Radio Stations From the UK?

Back in the late 1990s I listened to an oldies station from the Jersey Islands. I've lost track of it. Does anyone know if it is still operating and is it still streamed?

I Like Arrow Classic Rock on 675. But I heard that went away...

Yes, Arrow was awesome! It came from the Netherlands so the only thing I could understand were the songs, when they announced the artist/title, and the name of the station "Arrow Classic Rock." Everything else, the news, IDs, liners, promos, adverts, were spoken in Dutch. Musically it was one of the best classic rock stations I've ever heard. From what I can make from the station's website they are now only on DAB digital radio, and also satellite:

http://www.arrow.nl/rock/

you can listen online.

It's been gone from 675kHz for at well over a year now; probably almost 2 years.

i fancy Absolute radio, Gold, BBC Radio 2 and XFM..on DAB, Absolute classic rock and planet rock

Heart London, Capital Radio, and Red Dragon are my faves as well! Used to like BBC R1, but I find that they talk too much.

TalkSport

I would often record their stream overnight so I could listen to the Alan Brazil Breakfast show in the following morning. I kept several shows recorded from just before and during the 2006 World Cup, and shows with a US Sport angle (Super Bowl XXXIX, Beckham signs with MLS, etc.).

Currently, BBC 4 gets a lot of airplay over my computer. Guernsey's Island FM has always high on my list, as it was one of the first on-line stations I've started listening to, back in 1996.

As far as the MW band goes, 1215 Absolute Radio is a favourite, as it's the only one which I've received, here in Canada, on a semi-regular basis... ;)

BBC Radio Stoke and Mary Fox's program "Classic Motown and Northern Soul"

LOVE hearing Mary's sexy British accent!

Big fan of the show...been listening online since 2005!

I hate to admit it, but in order, I listen to Radio 4, World Service, 5 Live, Radio 2, Radio 1. I must be getting old :D I do really like the latest from the Black Eyed Peas though. Maybe I'm not over the hill yet?

HI
I like

Kiss 105 East Local
Kiss 100
BBC Essex Local
Klash FM Essex
KMFM Kent
Dream 100 Essex Local
Rise Essex
1xtra
Capital 95.8
Galaxy FM
Unknown FM

Desire FM Essex
www.skylivestream.net which is my local station.
And LBC

So quite a mix.

I started listening to NME Radio online about a year ago. They used to play great indie music, but since I started listening they've let most of their jocks go and the playlist has suffered. Mostly '90s songs and very little new material.

Mainly BBC 4, World Service and RTE Gold. A couple weeks back, I discovered Tempo FM, from Wetherby.

Yeah, I do get some pretty good DX reception on this side of the world! ;o)

I enjoy listening to " Big Al radio" out of the UK on the web. They have request shows, motown, country and come thru fullfilling my suggestings. Most DJs are quite intertaining. You can check the radio personalities at www.bigl.co.uk

The BBC regional stations are wonderful. Weekends are full of specialty musical shows -- everything from brass bands to punk to folk to soul to you-name-it. And the hosts of the weekday shows have real personality. It's a throwback to the way full-service personality radio used to be done here in the '60s and '70s. Go to www.bbc.co.uk/england/radio and check a few stations out.

In my home town (derby) these have been cut drastically in the last few months. We still have 'memorable melodies' on Sundays with 30s/40s/50s music, but the folk, country, jazz and celtic shows have all been axed.

The licence fee freeze is starting to bite....
