What Are Your Favorite Radio Stations/Presets??

I steal this from other people and other boards.. since I'm new to the area, I wanna create a little friendly discussion.

What are your favorite radio stations/what do you have on your presets? It's kinda a 1 1/2 part questions.. since, most likely, your favorite stations..are also on your presets. I'm not talking about stations you only hear when you travel, but those you listen to on a regular basis where you live.

Since I don't have a radio with presets yet, I'll just mention what my favorites are:

1.) "Z93fm" WZLA 92.9 Abbeville
2.) "Rejoice 1090am" WCZZ Greenwood
3.) WCRS-AM 1450 Greenwood
4.) WCZZ-AM 1070 Sans Souci/Greenville

As you can see, I'm a big AM Radio freak.. I don't listen much to FM :)

Hey Paul.

Sorry for the delay-I don't get to read the board very often.

I am a big fan of AM radio myself. Although I do listen to FM, there is nothing quite like listening to a good strong AM signal. I love it. Nothing sounds better on a good quality car radio as does the bass of an AM station.

If you are ever in the Greenville-Spartanburg area, tune in WORD 950 and WYRD 1330. These 2 stations are simulcast talk radio. Would be easier to compare if there was music, but in my opinion, 950 has always had the far superior sound. As far as my favorite stations/presets, I listen to most any station that is off the "beaten path". I usually wear out the preset buttons and the tuning knob in my truck because I am constantly searching for something new or different. Not a big fan of "cookie cutter" radio such as you get nowadays from big conglomerates.

Favorites:

1.) 1490 WPCI Greenville (Radio Randy's Gem. A wonderful little station-plays a little bit of everything.)
2.) 1070 WCSZ Sans Souci (Oldies)
3.) 103.3 WOLT Spartanburg (Oldies, Beach Music)
4.) 104.5 WHLC Highlands/Cashiers, NC (A low power jewel that has a decent signal in Pickens County.)

All of these stations are uniquely formatted. That seems to be the kind of stations I am drawn to.

O-K, you guys might find these somewhat boring or puzzling but here goes:

COLUMBIA: (in no particular order)

1)WUSC 90.5 (College)
2)WJLA 88.1 (Sumter NPR)
3)WOMG 103.1 (Oldies)
4)WNOK 104.7 (CHR)
5)WOIC 1230 (Air America)
6)WLTY 96.7(Adult Hits)....but they're starting to get on my nerves..
7)WXRY 99.3 (AAA) can't get over the air at work & can't stream at work.

Oh, speaking of WCZZ.. I hear they aren't Full time Jones Oldies anymore.. they run the American Blues Network from Gulfport, MS on the weekends now.

Even moreso then AM, I tend to be a fan of radio that is different, out of the box or not so ordinary. I will lsiten to the small 1KW hometown daytimers before i lsiten to a big cookie cuter type station.

I used to have a button for WMUU, but the Spanish station in Greensboro usually blocks it out here. And that button worked for Easy 94.5 in Myrtle Beach too. But I found out I was always curious about what the oldies station was doing. If it was loud, that meant hope for my kind of music since people with my taste would give up on it. Though when it's soft, I can actually enjoy it.

Mix 106.1 too. Some of its music is still good. And it puts me close to Easy 105.9.

Country Legends 98.3 gets a button. I know that one's not relevant to this board.

And Lite 102.9, just to see outrageous they can be. Plus some of their older songs sound good.

On AM, WAME 550 sounds like Mix 106.1, but in Marlboro County I can pick up WIOZ, which is so much better.

WSPC 1010 has Rush Limbaugh.

WBAG 1150 has lite oldies, which is okay. In Wadesboro I can pick up WAVO Rock Hill there.

My favorite station is Memories 1280, which has Jeff Rollins, Chick Watkins and Ed Brand, formerly of WIQB 1050.
