what are your favorite rhythmic stations?

In the mid 90s 97.9 The Box played Dance titles like "Rhythm of the Night" by Corona and "Another Night" by the Real MCcoy.

I'm not surprised considering that was prior to Radio One owning the station.

Bingo! Oh yeah, WHTA never was considered Rhythmic, but their sister station in Baltimore, WERQ "92Q Jams", was until 2006.

However, I don't know how on earth KBXX Houston still gets away with being tagged a "Rhythmic" because they never were in the "borderline league" like WPGC, KMEL, or KKBT. They clear made a pendulum switch from being a pure Rhythmic that played pop, hip-hop, and R&B songs to one that just play practically all hip-hop all the time which is MAINSTREAM URBAN (just like WHHH Indianapolis, WHHT St. Louis, and the other Radio One Mainstream Urbans with the exception of WKYS and WERQ).

Why is WKYS and WERQ an exception? I mean ive heard Rhythmic tracks on WKYS from time to time, is that why? And WHHH really reminds me of WPGC's playlist. Both labeled as Rhythmic, both practically are Mainstream Urbans.
WKYS and WERQ has always leaned more towards the Urban Contemporary rather than straight Mainstream Urban. WKYS competes directly with the formerly ambiguously programmed WPGC, but now with Jay Stevens as the programmer it sounds just like WPGC sounded like, an urban contemporary-rhythmic hybrid that plays a lot of older R&B hits and rhythmic songs alongside a typical hip-hop/R&B playlist. Whereas, WERQ is the only urban station that caters to the 18-34 demographic in Baltimore, and the station's huge female following due to the highly successful "LoveZone" slow jams show hosted by LaDawn Black resulting is a station that caters to both male and females.

WHHH has always been an oddball station that replaced the original WTLC in Indy. However, what differentiates WPGC from WHHH is the fact that WPGC plays more old school than this station and airs a slow jams 5 nights a week.

Z104/Norfolk
Jammin JJS 1027/1049 - Roanoke
Wired 945/Philly

and I hope to add
Hot 1009/Richmond ...they are new, we will see if they are good or just a CHR/RHY juicebox.

WPOW Power 96
KZON 101.5 JamZ
KPWR Power 106
KMVQ Movin 99.7
Party 101.5/105.3

Not exactly sure what WiLD is doing these days, but they were my number 1 back in the late 90's and 00's
