What are your listening Habits?

Who needs Arbitron? ::)

Mornings - Paul & Ron - Big 105.9 (in the car & streaming at work)
- I like the fact I can get everything with them. A one stop shop.

Middays - Jorge Sedano & Boog Sciambi - 790 The Ticket (stream at work)
- I need a little sports fix & Neil has bored me to tears after so many dedicated years of listening to him

Afternoons - Randi Rhodes - 940 WINZ - for news information
Dan Le Batard - 790 The Ticket - definitely when I want to laugh I listen (streaming still & driving home)

Evenings - Sean Hannity - 610 WIOD - or a Marlins game on WQAM (if I'm in the car)

I get up at 5 am, so don't listen to much after that.

What are your radio habits?

AM: Big Dog and Jax on QAM or Paul and Old Ron on Big or Mancow on Mantalk640
Middays: Neil Rogers ,or if Jorge is hosting ,Jim Rome on Mantalk or Sedano on the Ticket
Afternoons: Dan Lebatard on the Ticket and Don and Mike on Mantalk during commercials
Evenings: Tom Leykis on Mantalk or Michael Savage on WFTL
Late Evenings: Nights on Real Radio
If I can't sleep: Phil Hendrie on WBZT or Coast to Coast

jbrasco951....if you are listening to ANYTHING on Mantalk then one of two things must be true...

1) You are a part of the management team or staff of the floundering James Crystal radio group who single-handedly ruined 640-AM.

or....

2) You are their ONE & ONLY listener. Non existence of ratings support this statement.

Bruce Kelly & Donna Davis-Majic 102.7 on the way to work @ 6:20 AM till I get to the office

XM 70's on 7 or The Blend at the office till 5 PM, during the lunch, it's Ed Schultz or Randi Rhodes while I read the paper.

Randi Rhodes-940 AM or Majik 102.7 on the way home.

Weekends are usually Big105.9, Coast 97.3, XM or the iPOD. It all depends on the mood...

When I'm in the area ( I don't live in the region ), I switch frequently between the "oldies" station and AM radio.

I rarely listen to El Rushbo anymore, and wouldn't be caught dead listening to the Republlic Schill that the same station runs monotonously into the evening.

I will take Big Ed during early afternoon, followed by Rhandi.

I switch between one of the above and Joyce Kaupman (spelling?). She has a great energizing appearance. I wish the station would run her in p.m. drive over that plug-and-play Jerry Doyle, but even Doyle is more tolerable than Schnitt's schtick.

I haven't heard the new local mid-morning show on 610 yet, but I bet I would find it more interesting than the same old schtick that Stephanie Miller drones on about every morning ("What did O'Reilly say today. He's such a.... And our show is like No. 1, ha ha ha). That's equivalent to the monotony heard by the bigger blowhard, Hannity.

Savage definitely in the evening.

Then it's Coast to Coast.

WDNA in the AM

Joyce Kaufman in the afternoon

Either NPR or WLRN-HD2 on the way home

XMU once I get home

Coast to Coast at night

97.3 The Coast on the weekends

Sometimes Hot 105 on Sundays or... more 80s with Gnarly (Seriously, if there's anyone in SoFla who can talk up the ramp into a song better than him I'd like to meet them.)

I'll also occasionally tune into WKPX to see if they're playing anything good (Nope. Mall Punk and ska are still king on 'KPX. It's almost like 1998 went there to die.)

What can I say flradiofan, Mantalk is my standby. Their shows aren't that bad. Mancow is a last resort. Mantalk should be on an FM signal, but I can only take in so much Rush, Joyce, O Reilly, Beck, Footy, Schnitt, Doyle, Dr Laura, Randi, Stephanie Miller, Hannity etc. I just feel like laughing all day, instead of being all political all day.

jbrasco951....You kind of hit the nail right on the head at least indirectly. Laughing is the correct word when describing Mantalk because it is the laughing stock of South Florida radio. I understand that you can only take the "talking-heads" so much. But Mantalk as an alternative? You'd be better off listening to police calls for entertainment. But everyone is entitled to their opinion. 640-AM is a trashed station programming-wise which is unfortunate because the quality of the signal is good and strong. I used to listen to the oldies music show every weeknight. It was one of the best oldies shows I have ever heard. Then one day about a year ago...poof...the station goes syndicated talk (and I use the word talk loosely). And poof....whatever ratings and listeners they had were gone and have never returned. I have listened to small samples of each program on Mantalk to try to give it the benefit of the doubt. With the exception of Jim Rome (who should be on an all sports station where folks might actually listen to him) the rest of the programs are second rate and juvenile. Especially those two buffoons from Washington (their names escape me) in the afternoon and the guy (his name escapes me too) on in the evenings when the oldies show used to be on the air. I realize Mancow does well in other markets, but it seems nobody wants him here. But again, I respect your right to listen to whatever you choose.

Big Dog and Jax on WQAM or Paul and Ron on Big in the morning

Neil in Mid-days or Oldies if I'm jonesing for music

Public Radio in the aftrernoon and very little radio at night..other than I have to feed my Dolphins obsession from time to time (though it's getting harder and harder to do)

I spend my time listening to those community information LPAM stations above 1600.

which still have more listeners than steve kane and brian craig and are much better produced.

I use to listen to Jim Defede on 940WINZ then to 610WIOD for Glenn Beck, and in the office the Christian FM station. None of these exist anymore. Now I listen to my iPod.

I'm surprised you're not interested in Footy on IOD.

I happened to hear him last week during the police-killer crisis.
IOD went over one hour into Limbaugh's monotonous show (thankfully), and continued with their excellent coverage of the breaking situation.

Footy seems to know every mover and shaker in town, and had people like police officers, etc., on with him to talk about the situation.
He provided a play-by-play update, and kept everyone informed as to what was going on.
Being on the road that time, it was helpful to me as a driver to try to stay clear of the police activity and not end up on a closed road, like on Powerline Rd., which was closed off where I drove.

This is the kind of radio morons like Hannity could never even think of doing. All they want to talk about is how bad their political opponents are.

I'm not from Miami and don't live in the area, but travel there frequently on business, so I don't know a lot about Footy. From what I heard, he sounded very good.

Seemed like a much better program, appealing to the listening audience which I believe at that time could care less about the hot air Limbaugh spouts off about how bad those evil liberals are.

I do like Glenn Beck, as his show isn't a big bunch of hot air like Hannity and Limbaught. But, as I've said before, it's not like you can't find Beck's show elsewhere...

Don62, I'm aware that Footy knows everyone in town and has his finger on the pulse of South Florida. He's been on South Florida airwaves longer than I can remember...but I just don't find him interesting enough. He's simply dull. I like a good sense of humor (like Beck and DeFede). Footy just doesn't have that. And yes, I watch Beck on CNN Headline News (and watch DeFede on CBS4 News).
