Thinking of getting "Retro Pop Reunion" for one of my midwest AC stations.
Does anyone currently run this show? How does it do & what time/daypart is it in?
What do you think of the host, Joe Cortese?

Many thanks for your input....

Retro Pop Reunion is a wonderful show. It's our second most popular after Leeza Gibbons. The show so nice, we air it twice! Saturdays at 1 PM and again at 8 PM. If you sit while it records into your automation system, you can insert your own liners and it really sounds like a live satellite show. Takes some work, but it sounds great. I highly recommend Retro Pop over Backtraxx USA from Premiere. Joe cuts tons of liners for your station so he really sounds like a member of your team.

I agree. I looked into Retro Pop Reunion as well a few years back for one of the stations I used to work for. It really is a good show. Unfortunately, nobody in my area is affiliated with the show anymore. WLRW in Champaign, IL used to be affiliated a few years back before their very brief switch to CHR, but otherwise, I haven't heard it on anywhere. Is there an affiliation list somewhere???

Another show you might want to consider is "Saturday Night 80s". It's a live show from Westwood One that airs Saturdays from 8pm-3am ET. Lots of 80s pop music, live requests, and contests...the show doesn't play the same old rock-based hits that a lot of 80s stations played a few years back...you'll actually hear pop and dance alongside the hairbands, etc.

Gary, it all depends which way you want to go with your AC. For a solid 80s pop show, I'd recommend "Saturday Night 80s." However, if you want a wider playlist show, I'd go with "Retro Pop Reunion" since they focus on hits from 1980-1992...plus, I believe they have a 90s version as well. As paytenr said, with a little elbow grease, the show is very friendly for localization drops within the program.
