What are your worst IBOC interference situations on either FM or AM?

From Vermilion, OH:

For me on AM, at night, WBZ's IBOC completely destroys any reception of KDKA 1020 and WHO 1040. WTAM pretty much kills 1090 and 1110 but then again they are a local to me. Multiple stations on 1690 wipe out 1700 at night.

On FM, WCLV 104.9 stomps on 104.7 WIOT quite a bit, which before IBOC had a clear signal here. WMMS 100.7 also stomps on WMJK 100.9 especially going east into Lorain.

My problems w/ IBOC are fairly consistent....just a matter of all local FM HD stations here having a hiss +/- .2 MHz from the main.

We have only one AM HD station in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale (thankfully), WSUA 1260, which puts a buzz/hiss on 1250 & 1270. WMYM 990 Radio Disney used to have HD, but they no longer have it.

We were at Cape San Blas, FL (the cape south of Tallahassee that justs to the south) in July, and WDAE 620's IBOC put a noise on 610 & 630---and WDAE is in St Petersburg! Killer signal they got.

Most annoying:

WEXL 1340 to WTRX 1330
WCBS 880 to WLS 890
WBBM 780 to WABC 770
WTVN 610 to WSNL 600
WCHB 1200 to WOWO 1190

WDVD 96.3 to WHNN 96.1

Gold Star Awards For Turning Off IBOC 24/7

WSB 750
WJR 760
WABC 770

Gold Star Awards For Turning Off IBOC at Night

WDFN 1130
WISN 1130
KFAN 1130
WRVA 1140

Cleanest places on the dial at night thanks to the above stations.

Here in Seattle, when KEX's and KSL's IBOC is on, it causes interference on 1170, 1180 and 1200. No 1150 due to local.

Sometimes KKDZ turns on their IBOC and day pattern after KWSU's closedown at 12AM. That means 1260 is completely obliterated, and 1240 has severe interference (it's a graveyard stn for crying out loud, and KKDZ tries to destroy it!)

I don't usually DX on AM and have not noticed anything missing the few times I have tuned in at night. No local AMs run HD, thankfully, but WWL from New Orleans might. If they do, the sidebands don't make a fuss 150 miles away here in Alabama. The analog, though, is crystal clear from the beach to about 20 miles inland if you have a decent radio.

No interference situations on FM, either. The only crowded part of the band here is the noncomm section and only WUWF from Pensacola at 88.1 operates HD (at 6% I think). If WHIL in Mobile at 91.3 were to do it, however, it would wreak havoc on two very local religious stations, on 91.1 in Fort Walton Beach and 91.5 in Milton (near Pensacola).

The commercial part of the band is so well spaced that the few cases where there are occasional strong first adjacents, the local stations happen to NOT run HD so it doesn't matter.

So, no problems here.

During the winter especially the IBOC for WBBM reduces the range of my local 1kw 790 WTNY.

When I was down in Oswego, NY this summer I noticed their local station WWLF 96.7, which was relocated to a weaker signal due to tower damage last winter, was receiving interference from Rochester's WCMF 96.5 HD sidebands. There is a good line of sight from Oswego to Rochester over Lake Ontario so many Rochester signals are nearly as strong as locals. They fade quick once you get a few miles from the water.

For me in VA, the worst offenders are WBZ and any FM station that increased their HD power. Those FMs' sidebands are stronger and WBZ sounds like a loud jet engine without the high pitch sound.

Well, obviously KEX jams out 1180 and 1200 with its Ibiquity signal, but it always did/does with its analogue sidebands, too. I can't recall when those frequencies have ever been DXable around here, Ibiquity or not. I think there's another one up in the 1300s somewhere. I duknow, I guess I just don't DX mediumwave very much (if at all) these days.

I can't say I've ever had adjacent-channel interference problems on VHF with Ibiquity. I think it's because everything's spaced far enough apart out here that it doesn't really affect anything. The real problem is all the god translators polluting what seems to be every open channel there is. Shut them all down and maybe it'd be like the mid-'90s again!

In my post, I meant to say WBZ's IBOC sidebands are the worst offenders as well as increased power from FM IBOC sidebands.
"The real problem is all the god translators polluting what seems to be every open channel there is. Shut them all down and maybe it'd be like the mid-'90s again!"

There's a ton of god translators here in VA as well. Mostly K-love/air1/positive-radio and BBN translators. The IBOC sidebands are a problem as well. Fix this problem or shut down the HD.

I'm with you on the translators. WZGN out of Crozet Va has their main signal on 102.3. Then they have a translator on 94.1 in downtown Charlottesville, a translator in Lynchburg, a translator in Richmond, and a translator in Farmville. I can find that same station all over the dial.

And FM too. I can't DX the following frequencies without a good null...

88.3
88.7
89.3
89.7
90.1 [to some extent]
90.5 [ditto 90.1]
91.1
91.5
92.3
92.7
93.1
93.5
93.9
94.3
94.7
95.1
95.5
95.9
96.3
96.7
97.1
97.5
97.9
98.3
98.7
99.1
99.7
100.1
100.5
100.9
102.3
102.7
103.5
103.9
105.1
105.5
105.9
106.3
106.7
107.1
107.5
and 107.9...

due to HD sidebands. Wow that was a mouthful! Get into the less populated areas and the IBOC may calm down some, but why is it even on when 5 people listen to 99.9 HD2?

I'm surprised WTAM is running IBOC anymore. All the Clear Channel stations down my way (WLW, WTVN, WYTS et al) have had it off for more than two months.
