what can be told about WTAG?

8) Can anyone tell me what they think of WTAG...are they viable...worth listening to....I know that a good number of staff of WTAG ended up going to WCRN and then got let go...any news at all? ???

WTAG is Clear Channel....I believe they still have more listeners than WCRN

WTAG is and always has been the Number 1 AM station in Worcester.... TAG could go off the air for 3 months and still beat WCRN's 50,000 watts of paid programming...

As for the staff's move from 580 to 830... Hank hired his old buddies from there - then the owners overrode Hank and fired them all... I'm not a betting man, but I'll wager the next EX-WTAG employee who now works at WCRN to be canned will be HANK STOLZ...

Agree or disagree?

If what you're saying is true about Hank Stolz in this thread and the previous one about WCRN, I think at the very least they should take the PD stripes from him.

I didn't have the chance to listen beyond the 6 a.m. newscast this morning but I noticed that Hank did the local news after the usual 3 minutes of the CBS national feed at the top of the hour. I'm sure this was in response to some of the changes at Metro. Is WCRN one of the stations no longer getting local news from Metro?

As for Hank, I would make him the news anchor and try to beef up the local news content. If WCRN super served the local Worcester area instead of trying to "play" with the big boys beyond Central New England, they could give WTAG some competition.

I agree. WCRN needs to focus on WORCRESTER COUNTY! How many times will they broadcast from Natick or Framingham!

If they really want to be the live and local station they say they are they should have a full time local news staff.

To put a run against TAG they need to have live news 5-6am, then a local interesting talk show from 6-10. Get Peter to talk about interesting items and for gods sake stop the crap! (The energy freedom fighters should only be on for 10 min once a week!) The WORST addition to the station is the horrible dinning out Metro West First off the hosts are obnoxious and pompous. They think their s*%t doesn’t stink…. No one wants to be talked down to like they do to the few people that tune in. Anyone who calls themselves a VIP is no good in my book…

A list of items CRN should think about….

5-6 live and LOCAL Hank doing news about what’s going on
6-10 PETER BLUTE (Hank shut up and let Peter do his show!) With News man Hank doing the LOCAL news
10-12 Dianne Wilkerson… She has a good show!
12-3 Laura Ingraham (something to go against Rush) Notice… NO DREW infomercial
3-7 Howie Carr

TAG does a GREAT job at covering local items. Hanks replacement on TAG is great and he does a good job on the station (as well as gets callers).

TAG should dump Jordan Levy… He stinks! (but he does get more callers then hank…..)

by the way for DavidZ... asking about the above post....I know that the WCRiNsider speaks the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me Hank. I have witnessed it as well!

The title of Program Director is nothing more than a title. He can't wipe his @SS at that station without asking for permission from the Boston owners.

Hank doesn't have any clue as to how to run a radio station. When do you think the last time the public file was updated? I guarantee you walk in that place and ask to see it he won't know what you're talking about. ???

No one could wipe their ---es at WCRN because there was no budget to buy supplies. I had to keep a roll of toilet paper in my car since the station didn't even provide it half the time. Guests coming in to see the dirty bathroom that was never cleaned. DISGUSTING!!!

Based on the "lack of money" comments, how long will it be before WCRN just gives
up on the local stuff and goes all satellite and paid/bartered programming? It stinks
for local listeners but at least it stops the bleeding...
