What could this be?

I heard not too clear Spanish being spoken on 1710 am. What could that be,anybody have any idea? ???

I have no idea where you're listening from, but it could be the Spanish speaking Radio Celestial (a pirate station) from the Bronx with Spanish religion and music. This one actually gets out quite well at night.

Radio Celestial might be a stretch then unless you're using an external antenna of some sort, then it's certainly possible when conditions are right. Or, you might have another Spanish pirate on your hands a little closer to you. Strange things can surface on 1710 during late nights, I always make a point to check the frequency when I'm spinning the dials.

Any chance it could be Cuba, Mexico, or Central America?

I'm in Central VA and I've been hearing a fair amount of Spanish under some of the usual stations at night that I don't think is originating here in the US. (no advertising and no regular or TOH ID's)

I'm thinking it probably is Radio Celestial,the only other Spanish stations on 1710 are in Tucson or in Nevada

Last year in October I was in Duluth, GA and the Cubans were coming in loud and clear without any auroral activity or anything abnormal. Not sure if its like that all the time, but it seemed the dial was full of stuff from down there. 530 was like it was next door.

I get some religious Spanish station on 1710 every now and then as well, its usually pretty weak and fades in and out. Ive also been getting the licensed 10 watt NOAA weather radio broadcasts from New York City.

I hear it quite often in Salt Lake City (Utah), especially at night and early morning. I think it's from Mexico.

Out here in central CT there are several spanish stations of various formats (mostly religion) on various x-band frequencies. As I am not a spanish speaker and only can pick out a few things here and there, ID's are a bit difficult and locations just as much, but from what I've heard these are what I get during the day:

1620 Radio Restoration (Religion) New Britain
1640 Spanish Music New Britain
1690 not sure what format or location
1700 or 1710 (I have reason to believe they moved down) also more of either format.

At night, there seems to be one on almost eevery x-band frequncy except 1660 from Elizabeth, NJ. I have yet to ID or even firgure out where any of these are coming from as they are loaded with noise and splatter over top of each other (various reasons, overmodulation, off frequency and such).
