What Did You Think Of The Election-Night TV Coverage??

Although in the 'States, I was able to access video streams of both CBC and CTV's Election Night coverage after 10 P.M. ET (thanks to the results embargo that was put back in for this election by the courts), and saw portions of both broadcasts.

Both networks did a fantastic job of covering the election.

In terms of graphics, CBC had the edge. It looked more "modern" than CTV's graphics.

In terms of analysis, CTV had the edge with the panel working alongside anchor Lloyd Robertson having many interesting comments.

In terms of anchors, a draw. Both Robertson and CBC's Peter Mansbridge were excellent. Were it not for the fact that Mansbridge is approaching his 60th birthday and Robertson is (as far as I know) in his early seventies, both men probably would have jumped to an American network by now. Either would be very much "at home" as anchor of a U.S. network's evening newscast.

In terms of the technical quality of the video streams, CTV's was superior.

My overall verdict: A very, very slight edge to CTV. If I were grading CTV and CBC on a scale of 1 to 100, I'd give CTV a 98 and CBC a 97. Both networks can be proud of the job they did last night.

That's nothing...should'ave seen CBC HD...it beats CTV HD's graphic quality...no contest! City tv may have gone National for the first time ever, but I'm still upset with them for leaving out the "Other" colum where One independant DID happen to win in Quebec...I'll bet they looked foolish not being able to display that win to their viewers...
______________

Did the A-Channel stations simulcast the CityVote special or were there entirely different hosts?
______________

I did notice Lance Chilton (A channel news Barrie) hosting with different graphics.
A focus on Barrie and Ottawa Ontario(perhaps all of Ontario?)...not sure about the other A channels...

They simulcasted CityVote Ontario... no local coverage.

Hey Joseph, I'm wondering what you thought of Global's election night coverage, considering they split their coverage 50/50 with local and national election coverage...?

Newstracker:

I live in the 'States, too far away from the border to pick-up any Canadian TV stations over the air. I watched the CBC and CTV coverage via their websites.

As far as I know, Global did not stream election-night coverage online, whereas CBC and CTV both did.

If I had found out about a Global election-night webstream, I probably would have also spent time watching it.
