What did your NBC affiliate do after the Kentucky Derby?

There was no sense in those people just yammering and telling us nothing important when the post-game show was on NBC Sports Network and they knew they were supposed to be through at 7. True, they did a very professional job and had a lot of good things to say when there was time for it--and they had three hours to do it in. I taped the beginning so I could skip all the red carpet mess.

I wouldn't have had a problem with "Jeopardy" being joined in progress because I happen to have two choices, the other one at 7:30, on a CBS station. But my affiliate, knowing the 8:00 show was not a rerun, ran "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune" in their entirety. I don't know yet what happened at the beginning of "Smash". I have to wait until I get to a library where I have sound.

KING/5 Seattle: E/I Approved stuff - Jarrod Miller & the News Teens.

West Coast seems to have a "treat" for E/I programming - the 4PM hour on Saturday has been open for mainly E/I programming on the big 3 Seattle stations for over 10 years now. Yes, Jarrod Miller and Teen Kids News aired in it's entirety.

KABC has been known to carry ABC's "E/I" programs after college football, which is late afternoon/early evening here in the East,
since most of the games are on at 12:30 (PT).

Back to the Derby: except for its ratings potential, why does NBC have to have three hours, starting at 4 PM (ET), for a race that doesn't even go off until about 6:30? As much as I love the Derby, and never miss it, I can't sit there for three hours and listen to basically the same information over and over. Normally, in the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point market, the Derby does extremely well for WXII (and we don't have horse racing in North Carolina), but this year there was a little competition from just down I-85: the golf tournament from Charlotte on WFMY (although I think CBS was off before the race started). I don't get WXII on DirecTV (my NBC stations are Raleigh's WNCN, plus WNBC and KNBC) and I assume they went straight to
"Entertainment Tonight" after the race.

I should have said East Coast only, since I doubt you had this problem, although whatever your station did might have had to be shortened or joined in progress.

That's what Wide World of Sports did so well.

What did my (ETZ) Peacock affil do after the Derby? I have no idea. I didn't tune in, partly because I was taping a Mexican soccer game on Univision for playing back after it was over.

In Phoenix, NBC News was in town for Education Nation. They held a live 90-minute "Teacher Town Hall" from the Herberger Theater downtown, which included personnel from both channel 12 and the Telemundo O&O.

The flagship here in New York City went to ...

... a Time-Life music collection infomercial, and aired it in its entirety despite the Derby coverage running (literally) a couple of minutes over.

And they did it again. This time there was no "Jeopardy" (though I could watch on the other station that airs it) or "Wheel" (and according to the printed listings that station was doing some special), but when I turned on 'Smash"--not a rerun, and not an episode that will ever be rebroadcast, so we need the online version now--someone was telling us who was ahead and how it's getting dark so golf has to continue tomorrow. Then they kept going and going and going with ads for other NBC sports coverage. Here's an idea: you know your East Coast stations will be airing "Smash" starting at 8. How about quitting in time for them to do just that?
