Do you hear anything, if so, is it like a jammed signal? Thanks.

On an AM carrier, the sound of white noise is a close proximity, for the sound of a digital signal. It's actually louder than the program material. (It sounds rather under par, IMHO.) On FM, it's more like dull hiss with a whine on top of it.

It sounds like a buzzsaw...it's called P25 digital audio....listen to 155.4525 (DPS Garland),
or 159.2175 (DPS Sherman). That will give you an idea.

Awful.

There are dozens of different types of digital communications signals, i.e. p25, D star, and each of the major manufacturers has their own propriatory signals. It would be nice if someone were to record some saple of each, fairly long, and provide a web site where we could listen to them to determine which we might be hearing. I've heard some that sound like his, some like a modem, some that have several distinct sounds and several that don't pass through a conventional scanner very well. If someone knows of such a source, please post it.
