What do listeners want?

The experts believe a power increase is the magic wand, the solution to solve all the problems with Hybrid Digital" Radio. The industry is providing a fix to a technical problem, but sadly is ignoring the real conundrum. It's like this, the Obama admin believes if McDonald's is forced to post total calories in their restarurants, right on the menu you'll magically stop ordering a Big Mac and fries. Sadly they're wrong, you'll order a Big Mac and fries because it's big, you've notice it and it's a free country, at least for a little while longer that is....The government will have to ban Big Macs..

Follow the link below as Mark Ramsey explains if you don't notice it, it doesn't exist?

OK, I give up, what's his point?

Well, I don't know what he was driving at, but I do know one thing....it doesn't matter if you're knocking birds out of the air at 20 miles with your HD signal...if it's the same crap that's on there now (for the commercial stations) no one's going to buy the radio to listen.

Then there's the pesky problem of noticing something, but deciding it ignores the features you value,
while tagging MOST of its value and appeal on features and applications you personally find irrelevant.

For instance, if I want portable music, I "tried and gave up on" headphones for portable listening around 1983.
I now use devices with speakers, "portable radio" size or larger to listen.

What's the trend? Iphones.
Most modern smaller, trendy devices as iphones and laptop computers simply never can make sound that I will find acceptable.
There isn't sufficient physical volume to make full range sound, so it's not an acceptable music device.

The screen's a pretty small place to do any real web "navigation", and the keyboard's too miniature to do any real typing.
If I did find audio or video content I wanted, now I'd need something like an outboard amp/speaker or monitor to present the data.
Not interested in tweeting or poking a screen with a stylus.

It's like an outboard "tuner" at best to me. Not interested in another 3G or whatever device. I have a laptop and cellphone
both which do a lot in a way the satisfies my needs.

So what are these "things" and even though I HAVE noticed them, do they exist?
