What do you like?

Happy New Year....I thought it would be interesting to find out what you all like about our local radio...these days...for example...I like the 70's at 7 on Magic 93...Oldies Shows on the weekend where you can request songs... I also like Sue Henry's talk show (I belive she is fair and gives people a chance to talk even if she disagrees)....I know he is in Williamsport...but I love Gary Chrisman's voice, and I love Bocci Alley....

WVIA's overnight classical music programming ... Bill Flynn's polka show ... Girls who have met the guy who runs the Radio Home Visitor tell me he's cute ... Bocci Alley is fun ... Shake, Rattle and Showtime is neat, too.

Sue Henry, yes. Very good show. That's about the only local radio I hear regularly. Have heard Bocci Alley...it is what it is. "THIS IS JOE...RAINELLI...MEET ME...IN THE ALLEY...BOCCI ALLEY." But I guess there's a market for it.

Three Entercomm voices who have shows but I never hear them, though I do hear them on commercials. I won't say who, but when I hear them on a spot, I turn the radio off and count to 60.

But this isn't about who or what we don't like, so nevermind.

I vote for Sue Henry.

Sue Henrey is the best.

Used to love Bocci Alley unitl he tried to turn it more into an oldies show than an Italian show. I still tune in occassionally but when I hear Bon Jovi I usually switch it right off.

Let's see, 104.9 the river is fine(70's and 80's),590 warm is good(60's and early 70's) despite the signal,Gem 107.7 is the best!(60's and 70's).There ain't nothing like a little standards now and again(wnak 730)I do wish we had an outlet for 1955-1964 pop 40 but that's a lost cause for me.Overall there is some variety here in this market than in many others.

WVIA FM overnights except on the weekends when they play jazz.
ROCK 107, WVIA FM and Kevin and Nancy in the morning on three seperate radios in the house.
Sue Henry for most of her show.
Colin Coherd from 12noon to 1pm.
Dan Patrick from 1 to 3PM on ESPN Radio.
WARM despite the crappy signal most of the rest of the day and WNAK AM for some music.
Shadoe Steele on the weekends.
One show that is a classic on WILK is this builder Scott J. Binsack who is outragious. One afternoon the guy was talking about his alcoholic girlfriend, her 8 year old boy and the Christmas tree he'd never get to put up with the kid! Jeez!!!!!!!! His heart was not only on his sleeve, it was thumping on his belly flopping around! It was like watching an accident, you couldn't turn or tune away.
Joe Thomas and Rob Nyehard on Saturdays for the Sports Line.
Can't get into FOX sports as hard as I try.
RHV to find out if I died or not.

I sometimes like the morning show on WILK. I would like it even more if it Nancy and Kevin were replaced by L.A. Tarone and Fred Williams. Informed, intellectual, in-the-loop, and a ton of ballz. What a dream team!!!

That way, Mommy Kman can return to red neck country, and Kevin can take his Timothy Leary act back to his mother land- Jamaica! I can't believe he has the hots for 61 year old Diane Sawyer.

I love L.A. Tarone...he is witty, smart and he sure can get a point across.
I also like the show on WILK Mansions and Estates....he really gets things off his chest...wow...

How old do you think Lynn is? Besides, Sawyer looks like a million bucks...

He graduated high school in either '64, 65 or 66 based on his reactions to some of the songs Bosco plays in the morning. He's between 59 and 62 is my guess.

You are 100% right. The guy is amazing. I was a guest on his TV show on WLYN TV 35 for my blog http://lulacpoliticaletter.blogspot.com/
and my book. He had virtually no notes, had more energy than a meth lab and did everything (swear to God) in one take!

Sawyer looks better on camera because ABC uses soft filters on the cameras or reduces image enhacing on the camera control units. I worked at an ABC affiliate, so i know first hand what they are doing. "Hide the wrinkles".

At any rate, she is still a senior citizen. She will be 62 this year. Can't Mr. Lynn do any better? I, nonetheless, have much respect for Diane as a journalist. She is first class all the way. I can't say the same for Chia Kev.

Please don't get me started on Kman! If I hear her say "hey" one more time, I will punch my radio through the firewall of my car. Too much mommy factor for me!!!

Yonk, we have to compare notes...

Good estimate, IMO. And he looks pretty good for a guy his age, no argument there.

Cripes, he'd pee his pants if he could spend an evening with Sawyer, so I'd say you have things bassackwards.

And if Kman drives you nuts, why in holy hell do you waste your time listening?

It just cracks me up that when Kman is off, Kev Flies solo. When Kev is off...Nancy needs a co-host...Joe Thomas, Rob Neyhard or the new flavor of the month, Corey O'Brien. I may not agree most of the time with Kevin Lynn, but I do respect him because HE CAN DO HIS OWN SHOW SOLO!

You are right on that, but what is even more noticable is the lack of calls when Kevin is alone. He really needs a co-host when Nancy is off.

See my take on it is this. I think Kman brings on board another voice because she is also the Programming Director at the Station and most likely is working doing other stuff between breaks. I think she is capable of handling an air shift since she did that WILK Morning News thing before Kevin and Nancy started a few years back.
Lynn on the other hand just might want to work alone or maybe no one wants to work with him. With all due respect to Kevin, he doesn't have the management responsibilities his partner has so therefore could go solo. As far as him not getting calls when he's on by himself, it really depends on the day, the topics available and the time of year. Christmas is a brutal time to get people engaged. On the other hand, I've heard callers lining up a few times when he's been on by himself.

One more note on WILK, Sue Henry is supposed to be off for King Day and has hinted that she'll have a special "fill in" guest host. No one has said anything but they hinted. My bet is that Fred Williams comes back for a day. I might be going out on a limb here, but I think that's who it might be. Or watch, they'll put a rerun of Michael Reagan on. Or hey, it might even be Harry West, though I can't imagine Harry doing a three hour gab fest.
