2 other people and I were having a coffee shop (OK Burger King) discussion and the subject turned to radio. Mike said he commuted to work (p/t)about 30 mi and would listen to an oldies channel until the station weakened, put on another, more local, oldies station and reversed the process on the way home. If a game was on he would listen to the sports station. The other guy, George, said he had an AM sports station (the Fan) the FM sports station WEEI, and an oldies channel on the presets. If the wife was in the car, she insisted on an easy listening station, WSRS which drives George crazy. George is retired. Both were adamant that that was it. Mike added that his wife knows better than to touch the radio in his car.
I told them I was a channel surfer and didn't use the presets very much. Forget the format, if the song is good, it's good. I am most partial to classic rock although most classic rock stations are pretty bland and don't seem to play the extended version very often. And I listen to sports radio as well. All of us are 6o ish in age. My better half rarely, if ever, wants me to change the station unless it is to classical on a long trip. I can stand THAT for about 30 min or so.
So what are YOU listening to when driving? A wide variety (like myself) or a real narrow offering like my friends? Does anybody mess with the radio when driving?
