WHAT DO YOU THINK OF KWBF STREETS 101.1?

I first heard this station when I got back from vacation during the fourth of july holiday. So far I think it's pretty good, and since KHTE 96.5 changed formats, I listen to 101.1 even more. Personally, I think we need more urban stations in our market. I just want to know what you all think or know about the station. That is, if you can hear it, it has a pretty weak signal, so you'll need a strong antenna.

I was saddened by the loss of 96.5 but this station makes that blow a lot less. I am not big on Power 92.3 so 101.1 is my new favorite station.

Not meaning to digress from the topic, but did Crain Media upgrade the transmitter for 96.5? I am actually picking it up here in Beebe and they have re-branded themselves as K-Hits 96.5. So apparently, Alice 107.7 now has competition......I think. I've listened to a couple of songs and I'm wondering if the new K-Hits is more of an Adult Cont./hot AC mix. What do ya'll think?

Well sportsannouncer, as for upgrading the signal, they are still broadcasting at the same about of watts and all that stuff, you probably just hear it better because the weather is clear outside, right now I can hear stations from Memphis that I don't always hear. But getting back on topic, It's not that I hate 96.5's new format, which I'm calling Retro-CHR, but Little Rock already doesn't have that many urban stations for a city/metro it's size, and as of last friday, another one bites the dust. That's why I'm glad KWBF now has an urban contemporary format. But in order for them to compete with other stations, they will need on air talent to do morning, afternoon and evening shows, and whatever else a station needs to do to stay competitive. What does everyone think?

I don't think 96.5 qualifies for an upgrade. They're pretty much boxed in with 96.5/Clarksdale, MS, 96.7/Hot Springs, and 96.9/Maumelle.

KWBF needs a larger playlist and a stronger signal to be competitive in this market. I have heard Kerri Hilson's "Knock Me Down" twice in one hour. Also, the signal is sketchy in southwest Little Rock, and I don't think a hip hop station can make it in this town without reaching southwest Little Rock. So far the station is sounding a lot like 102.7 the Vibe in Fort Smith which plays some good stuff but overall is a horrible station.

I occasionally listened to KHTE's online stream, i found it to be the kind of station Boston needs back, and was saddened to learn of their demise. What is up with this Streets 101.1 station? Radio-Locator says it is off the air, is it? I cannot find anything on this station besides this website and the wikipedia page, but evrything was last updated in early august, what is the current status?

Streets 101.1 is on the air. It's just that radio-locator.com takes so long to update their website, you would think that it is off the air. The station's format is Urban Contemporary, aka Hip-Hop and R&B. The station has had this format for a few months now, though the company that owns them, Flinn Broadcasting, hasn't created a website for them yet, they invest most of their time in KXHT Hot 107.1 in Memphis. 101.1's Wikipedia page was updated around the same time KHTE 96.5 changed formats.

drove through LR twice this weekend and the 101.1 signal is terrible. I remember it being much better in the past.

KZTS has a construction permit for a power decrease to 900 watts but a tower height raise to more than double it currently is.

From comparison of the two coverage maps, KZTS will now cover the city and close metro area better, but the suburbs worse.

New COL is Cammack Village

They may be operating under the construction permit and thats why the signal seemed worse then before?

Thoughts anyone?

There were located in North Little Rock by are to the NW operating at low power currently and will soon move farther out but back at comparable power to their original licensed site.

In NLR they were 6kw @ 300ft
currently they have 500 watts at just over 300ft
Their new home will be 900 watts @ just under 900ft ( this is the same as 6kw @ 300 ft though they may not be able to penetrate buildings as well)

you can see maps of the tower sites on the FCC site:

So is there even a logo for Streets 101? All Flinn's site shows is the old logo. This station never had a website as far as I know even at the old format.

To my knowledge, Streets 101.1 doesn't have a logo or its own website. However on Flinn's website, they did put up the call letter change, and called the format Rhythmic CHR. Though if you listen to the station, you'll know the format is more Urban Contemporary than Rhythmic CHR, which is fine by me.

Streets 101.1 is no longer commercial-free. Over the past week, the station has been airing commercials for a T-Mobile store in Little Rock, as well as commercials for a few Christmas and New Year's parties at a couple of clubs in the area. I don't remember all of the clubs, but I do know that one of them is Club Hollywood on Asher Ave. They have also updated the playlist, still no on-air personalities, but all of this is a step up from where they have been.
