What do you think of the new Fly 92.9?

It's been three weeks since the big Z-93 flip over at 717 E. David Rd...What do you think so far of the new Fly 92.9? Personally, I like it...the music mix is pretty eclectic(Good to hear some old Classic Rock/WING-FM staples back on Dayton radio). I have noticed that even Mix has started copying some of Fly's playlist, like an old Sniff N The Tears tune. Maybe Fly has them on the run, then again, maybe not...Just found it interesting that Mix started playing that song out of nowhere. Also...I think Scott Sharp is programming it...I received an email from him the other day regarding some positive comments I sent their way. Scott's a nice guy...He also sounds very busy these days if he's programming not only Hot but Fly as well...Not uncommon in today's world of double-workload corporate radio.

Excuse me!!!! MIX never copied anybody. Its FLY that copied them. They ALWAYS have played Sniff N the tears like on the "Whatever Weekends". Trust me, MIX 1077 is not threatened. Fly should just fly away. They suck!

Mix focuses on the new stuff way more then the older music. At least Fly focuses on the older and new music equally. Plus mix dont play anthing from the 60's like Fly does.

But, remember...they don't have to beat Mix to win. Just take them down a couple of share points...which is possible.
Will it happen? We'll see.

Do you work for Mix or something? Man, it sounds like I hit a nerve here. Anyhow, I wasn't insinuating that anyone copied anyone(It was more of a rhetorical question), it was just interesting that a station would all of a sudden add a relatively obscure song to their playlist. I wasn't talking about their "Whatever Weekend" anyway...I was talking normal Mon-Fri playlist(I heard it this past Wed. if memory serves me right).
Mix is not threatened? They may not be threatened...However, they shouldn't totally ignore Fly either.

I don't work for MIX. I am just a listener. When I don't have my XM radio on its Mix that I have on.

Fly? They have run out of people and animal names, they are starting to name stations after insects?! Who's the morning jock, Morris Day?

Hold on, let me grab my miniature violin....

Get this, Mainline did something right and upset the yuppies at Clear Channel. They did research, something Clear Channel DIDNT do. They invested in their product....should I keep going?

Mix and Fly will coincide just fine. Mix will fall, maybe not to a 2 or 3 share, but it will fall...and guess what, thats radio. When competition strikes, you just have to button up your shirt and pray not to fall too far.

I doubt Fly will beat Mix. However, dont be too surprised to see Mix fall about 3 shares, same as Lite probably another share or two. This will allow WHKO to dominate the market, good, they deserve it...atleast they know how to run a radio station.

Cheap Channel is starting to feel the rath of all that they have done. Their stock prices are falling so far in the toilet that Bain and Thomas Lee's heads are spinning.

I hear more songs I like on Fly than I do on Mix (don't like the young female oriented "M odern A/C" "Lite Alternative" or whatever it is that dominates their playlist). I have heard Fly start airing some listener phone calls. Still think some personalities need to arrive sooner rather than later. And, yes, I have heard Sniff n The Tears on Mix well before Fly flew into town...it may well be that Mix started the "Whatever Weekend" early for the holiday weekend. (By the way..why did Mix air the same old American Top 40 episode on both Thanskgiving and Saturday morning?)

Man, you are so right. I mean, "Fly" has nothing to do with the aviation history in Dayton, right?, it's just an insect.

I don't think Fly is a bad name for a station...If you people would listen to the station before actually attacking it, you would know that "Fly" is supposed to be a tribute to Dayton's history in aviation, thus A SOUND OF AN AIRPLANE AND NOT THE BUZZING SOUND OF A FLY on their imaging...Maybe to shut up the critics of the name Fly they should've just named the station 92.9 The Flight. They could've done worse and named it Ted-FM, one of the worst AH stations i've EVER heard :).
Also, if I remember right, Mainline left Liberty(Their other Adult Hits station in VA.) jockless for two years before putting someone on that station in mornings. Leave it alone...Let the music speak for itself...If you want talk in the mornings, turn it to Mix. They have longer stopsets during the six o' clock a.m. hour than Fly has in two hours. Adult Hits is supposed to make the music the star of the show anyhow.
Mix 107.7 is an 80s-leaning Hot AC. If I was them, I would get away from the 80s and be more like WBNS-FM/Mix 97.1 in Columbus, which is a CHR-leaning Hot AC...At least it would be something fresh since Dayton has only one CHR.

On MIX Friday was 70's day, Saturday was 80's day (they played Casey's Top 40 from the 80's again for people that missed it on Thursday (I missed it) and Sunday was 90's day.

Mix does that most holiday weekends.
It's officially called the "One Decade At A Time Weekend". Yes, they do it every holiday weekend, at least this year they have been doing it since Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Should I mention I heard Sniff N' The Tears "Driver's Seat" early Wed. morning on Fly 92.9?(Last time I almost caused a near riot similar to being at a retail store on Balck Friday) ;D Geez, last time I mentioned this I was told Fly copied Mix after I had asked a rhetorical(Look it up!) question. I used to listen to Mix quite a bit and never remembered hearing that tune...Just must've been the time(s) I was listening.
Now, I spend more time listening to Fly than Mix...Mix used to be my favorite Dayton station until Fly came to town. I still listen to Mix...Rarely if ever. I listened to them for maybe 5 minutes on Sunday night and haven't been back since.

I listened this weekend while I was in Blue Ash; and I liked it. I think the music mix is much better than what I hear down here in Louisville on Louie-FM.

I didn't know it took so long to have a website built for a station like the new Fly 92.9... "New Website Coming Soon!"... a month later...

Online stream would be nice to have at work for my guests.
