What do you think the chances are...

According to Kate from 97x's blog, 101.5 has pretty much become the "step-child" of 97.1.

There has been talk on this board for a while of how nice it would be if 97x and 101.5 swapped signals, as 101.5 has the stronger signal and 97x would do better over there.

What do you all think the chances are of this happening now with the 'X' staff pretty much running the show over at the Point? I mean pretty the point is already using x staff (I am pretty sure I heard Shark on there today), and it would seem that Shark, or Kate, or someone from the 'X' is programming the point.

I for one would love to see it happen, but don't know how realistic it is. I'd love to be able to listen to the 'X' all day everywhere I go, but unfortunately the moment I pass mile marker 20 on I-4 headed east bound it starts cutting out, and then I switch over to the point which can take me all the way home to lakeland, and usually gets me just past the theme parks before it starts cutting out.

What do you think?

I've said for a LONG time this is what Cox should be doing. Sampling The Point the last week, I noticed an expansion of the playlist to include a lot of 90's leaning alternative. Chilli Peppers, Alanis Morrisette, Matchbox 20, and even heard something as hard as Pearl Jam. It's very possible from what's been reported that "X" may finally be moving soon to 101.5. Looking at ratings for the last book or two, The Point has continued to trend down and 97X seems to have lost any gains it had on 98Rock (which today has still never recovered from the Bubba loss). You put 97X on 101.5 and combo that with 102.5 The Bone and you've got one hell of a rock combo.

they have been playing an increasingly larger number of more modern, alternative leaning tracks.

I certainly hope Shark and the crew can convince the powers at be about how wise swapping the signals would be.

I doubt seriously thought that anything would happen prior to 97x's annual Next Big Thing Concert, the first weekend in December.

As much as I'd love to see 97X on 101.5, I have a hunch Cox will keep 101.5 as the "decade" channel like they have for the past ten years. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if by the end of next year 101.5 is a 90s channel with a positioning statement of "Best of the 90s and more!" (Music library would consist of mostly adult aleternative hits from 1987 to 2002). Since most of the X staff already plays the Green Day and Pearl Jam-type stuff, why not keep them on 101.5 as well?
