Day:
I'd expect WPOG St. Matthews, SC, to be the main dominant station here. It would be weak, though, mostly. An ultralight like the Sony SRF-59 or Sangean DT-400W may be able to hear it well enough for a DXer to ID it, but I think you'd need a Superradio, Sangean PR-D5, or an external loop antenna to make it listenable. I wouldn't expect it to stop a scan on smaller radios.
Right on the beach, I'm wondering if WAQI Miami, FL, may make it in? Also there's WEGG Rose Hill, NC - could that possibly be heard if you're right on the beach? Out of curiosity I looked at WOR, but it's a mostly land path so I wouldn't expect them to make the approximately 640-mile trip, except maybe during winter daytime skywave.

Well, 710 in Charleston on the beach is a mix of the Cuban, WAQI, and WPOG. All 3 can be heard depending on the radio. Inland, it is a weak WPOG over the rest of the stations.
It's a mishmash at night. All 3 come in at about the same strength with no dominant signal.

Hmmm during the day probably blank or perhaps a very weak WDZY would come in. WHKY a likely critical hours visitor perhaps mixed with WFBG. At night, probably a jumble of stations maybe WHIO just barely on top.

During the day I would guess that you could get a very weak KBUF and KFAY possibly with a large enough loop. Critical hours they may be in stronger along with a drifty mess of KCWJ, KCTA, KTWO. Nights probably the Mexico City station on top, XEQR with WBZ and KTWO under it.

Ok, first, since I promised, my daytime results for 1290 at Shenandoah River Lodge near Maurertown, VA…
The dominant station, although weak, was WDZY Colonial Heights, VA, broadcasting Radio Disney to the Richmond area Here's a video of 1290 on my PL-398mp + Select-A-Tenna, looking approximately west/northwest to northwest.
The station that was "messin' with my concentration" (listen to Shealeigh Voitl's song lyrics at ~1:34 in the video) was most likely News/Talk "Big 1290" Altoona, PA. BTW, FYI I often find it interesting to have radio reception seemingly "punctuate" a line in a song. Another of Shealeigh's songs has lines like "push me away" and "we're slowly fading away", for example. In www.mediafire.com/?zelv5yozchzd559]this recording of 1110 KDIS on my barefoot Sony SRF-59[/url] in my back yard, there's a sunset pattern change (ERP to me ~80kW -> 2kW), nightsignal fading out near one of those lines, and occasional splatter from 10kW 1130 KSDO broadcasting Radio Nueva Vida from 6 miles north..
Using just the PL-398mp's internal ferrite antenna, WDZY was just *barely* audible, IF the ±1kHz bandwidth was selected, and even then only if you recognized the beat and/or melody in the songs being played.
With the radio on a several hundred foot wire fence nearby, reception of both stations was considerably cleaner. I think it may have also revealed a possible third station underneath, but I'm not sure which one.

I spent a little time in Norman, Ok in the late 60s. At that time WBZ was heard along with occasionally Mexico City. KCTA was dominant during critical hours. Obviously it would be different now.
Also regarding Norman, the daytime station on 890 in Oklahoma City, at that time KBYE, would sometimes forget to signoff at sunset. Even in the Oklahoma City suburbs, WLS would overpower them soon after sunset.

1140 kHz in Edmonds, WA:
During the day, I'd expect that to be mixed splatter from KKNW 1150 and CKWX 1130. If you can get around that, I think 1140 would be blank until critical hours where KGEM would likely pop up perhaps mixed with KHTK. KZMQ may even make an occasional visit near Greybull, WY sunrise or sunset. CHRB probably makes occasional visits too. Nights mostly KGEM and KHTK and CHRB behind them.

That's pretty accurate, KGEM is dominant. Surprisingly, KKNW does not put out that much splatter, I can hear KSL on 1160 with no problem most nights. That's unfortunately not the case with KGNW, I can't get around the splatter of that to get KGO. About CKWX, I can get them at night but during the day they are not strong enough to put out splatter, let alone listenable during the day.

I'll be out of town this weekend, and without internet (T-Mobile cell coverage due to being in a dead spot in a mini-valley in the San Bernardino mountains) from early afternoon today PDT to about mid afternoon Sunday PDT.
