What does 'D' before a station's call letters mean?

In the FCC database, I noticed there's some stations that have 'D' before the call letters. For instance, KELP in El Paso is listed as DKELP.

There are several AM stations like this, but also FM stations and especially translators.

What does this mean?

I believe that means that the station's license has been deleted by the FCC.

This generally occurs after a station has been silent for one year.
