Anyone that listens to this crap like Connell, Limbaugh and Levin are morons with no thinking ability nor any kind of life.
I remember the days when WHAS was a real radio station, unfortunately those days are gone forever.

Went to a lot of work to register just to post this message. Sounds like someone with sour grapes over the fact that Air America tanked.

And pretty brave too, eh? Really stuck his neck out. And one has so much credibility with that first post, don't they? ;)

I'm guessing this guy might be a liberal. :D As such, he's not really in the audience demographic WHAS is going after with Mandy, so they really don't give a rip what he thinks. But he's tired of listening to mass appeal formats (i.e. what normal people listen to) so he's going to go pay a monthly fee to Sirius so he can be one of the 12 listeners to "The Weirdo Channel", which has NO AGENDA. ROFLOL.

I'd say an angry liberal is prima facie evidence that Mandy is doing something right.

It seems no one cares about Mandy, cause this post had no replies until I posted that I'd switched to 790 for my morning listening.
Mandy is a bit of a change. She will run off some Francene listeners. She will pick up some Laura Ingraham and Mike Gallagher listeners. Check back with us in July of 2011, because it'll take that long to figure out how how great of a choice she was.

But that info will be in Arbitron. You'll never figure it out by polling the opinions here.
Here is a question for you. If everything is hunky-dory on the Mandy front, then why are they attempting to give away $50,000 during her show? Gotta love those CC contests too-- a chance of a chance of all the CC stations to get a portion of the whole pie. What a joke! But you only know that if you look into the small print.

Actually that's a sign that they're happy with her. It's normal to have some kind of contesting/ giveaways for the Spring and Fall books, but you don't waste your money on someone you have doubts about. Not that they are actually investing, because, like you say, it's one of those bogus Clear Channel nationwide contests where the winner will be in Los Angeles or Chicago. But still- if it was real money they were giving away in Louisville, it would be a sign they liked Mandy.

Actually, they replaced The Weirdo Channel with.......Glenn Beck! ;D

I would agree. If you've got a new personality, you want to make some noise and draw attention to him/her.

BTW, I don't know if any of them read what's posted here, but I wonder what the Clear Channel folks would think of their every little move getting dissected in one thread or another.

You consider the source and you don't let it bother you. Most folks on here have never seen the inside of a radio studio much less understand how programming works. Personally, I stay out of programming and stick with what I know best, engineering. I told a PD once, "don't tinker with my transmitter, and I won't tinker with your play list"

I can tell you this much: If she sticks with LOCAL, she'll be fine. I tuned in a couple weeks ago and heard her talking to someone from TARC and she did seem to know exactly what she was talking about. Is it a change from Francene's program? Yes but you know what? ANYTHING CC-Louisville would have done would have been a change from her. You can't replace a legend, you can only follow in said legend's footsteps and Mandy's doing a fairly decent job.

Well, now that Clear Channel has found a new 9AM-12Nn host for WHAS in Louisville, they have another daunting task ahead of them: replacing Mike McConnell at WLW in Cincinnati.

My, how Francene has grown. But I heard that the real story is she faked her own death and was spotted in a Burger King drive in window on Dixie Highway.

Look, Francene was very talented and was loved by a lot of people. But her political moderation had become a point of attack against WHAS. That's why we've had the Laura Ingrahams and Mike Gallaghers in that time slot, and frankly if you're someone who enjoys the Rush Limbaugh show, you'd much rather hear Laura or Mike than a Francene.

They were never going to can Francene over that, but look what they did when it was time to replace her. They shifted to the right to close the opening that Francene created. And they'll probably be better off for it.

It's the brand WHAS wants to emphasize. Joe Elliott had even said he believed that was a factor on losing his nightly program.

Legend? Dude, do you even know what the definition of legend is?

Francene was pretty good, but she was far from "legend" status. Legends are people like Edwin Armstrong, Paul Harvey, Rick Dees or Wolfman Jack.

I hate the way people now just toss around terms like this. I don't even think Francene would qualify as a legend in Louisville. I'm sure you have people like Ron Clay, Gary Burbank and Bill Bailey would rank far above Francene in legend status.

Louisville legend? Simple answer... METZ!
