New morning shows on The Buzz and KIOL. :D

A decent alt-rock'r and less latin stations.

another AC station with a better playlist that don't play the same "tired" Richard Marx songs every day.

Houston already has two "news" stations (KTRH and KIOL) although neither one is full time, and I am beginning to suspect that the KTRH news is being voicetracked from San Antonio half the time anyway. If you mean a 24 hour, nothing but news station, then I doubt you'll ever see one. Those days are long past in radio.Yes, there may be too many stations of a certain format, but that will work itself out over time through diluted earnings for some of the poorer performers. With all the choices between satellite, terrestrial, and the new HD2 stations, and my faithful Ipod, radio seems less important and more impotent than in the past. They no longer have a captive audience.

I think Houston has all the formats it needs. Now they just all need to be made better than they are. I think the new ownership of KRBE will bring new life to the station, and that can only be a good thing.

I would like to see a good jammin oldies station like jammin 105.9 in Austin. Good energy station.

Houston needs a real 24/7 News station. KFNC is a far cry from a News station. KFNC's lets make the news a laugh a minute style really stinks and makes it impossible to take the station seriously for what little news that they have on the air. I don't know what "genius" came up with the idea that that the news should be a laughfest like the other morning shows is way off base. Plus KFNC drops an hour of "news" for entertainment news from 8am to 9am. At least KFNC is on the right frequency, they both are crap. I expect KFNC to drop off the ratings completely by mid summer, late summer at the longest. Cumulus should program 97.5 for The Golden Triangle where the station can be heard and I'm sure there is a format or two that the GT could use on the air. The one hope is if KTRH keeps dropping in the ratings that maybe, and it is a big maybe that Clear Channel will try and bring KTRH back to it's days of a premiere News station. It costs a lot of money, but the return can be just as rewarding. Houston is huge and can support an all News operation, even in todays radio market. In fact if radio wants to stay in the game the stations will have to start programming formats that aren't already on the net. It is way past time for radio to get back to the basics of serving the Community and not just throwing a station on the air as cheap as possible. An Adult Alternative Rock station.Return Adult Standards-Big Band to the Houston radio dial.A real Business News station that is not run by some egomaniac from NYC. Brent Clanton would be a good choice to head up both the Business and News stations.A 50's - 60's Rock station.A swift kick in the ass!Mike O

The AM Biz Radio doesn't do it for you? I think a 50's, 60's, early 70's rock station would rock. And what do you mean "adult" alternative rock station? Mike O, you have great ideas. You should work in radio. ;D

Adult Album Alternative, aka AAA or Triple A. In Houston, 93.7 The Arrow is broadcasting triple A on their HD2 stream. Also see KGSR Austin, KBAC Santa Fe, and KFOG San Francisco.

Well that is what gets me riled. Why can't they put some of that on the regular channel? A least a segment of AAA would be welcomed.

There are very few markets that have been able to sustain AAA, and they tend to be ones like Denver and others that have a storng lifestyle group in the population. In other markets, like LA, the format barely made a 1 share.

I love AAA, always loved listening to KGSR in Austin, and I guess if I had a HD receiver I could listen to 93.7 in Houston. I think HD2/3 will be the only way we'll get AAA and other such formats.

Agreed. Houston does need most of those formats but here there really aren't many places for them to go.AAA-would work here but a little more "countryfied", like the KGSR-Austin with a little of the last days of KIKK thown in. BIZradio should go back to 650. KXYZ 1320 would work better as 50's-60's or standards (or daypart where both can exist). Jack, Bob, or other will be on 97.5 eventually, with the FM news channel moved (to whatever Cumulus buys) or they will be blown up. Houston (the part that CAN hear them) and the triangle would benefit from Adult Hits. Jammin oldies or Classic Dance should make the move to 106.9 or KLOL. Mega won't last like it is. Party 104.9 could tweak itself to swallow them or weaken them. As much as I hate Mega, their survival should be on a variation of what they have plus Classic Dance that appeals to Hispanic females. And yeah no more Espanol, please. Radio One are you listening?

A real News and Business station that actually delivers news and business from real anchors, not hacks trying to sell trading programs, real estate schemes and questionable financial management.
