What Does la Radio Needs

Re: What Does la Radio doesn't Needs (Hola, grammar police!)

It is a recipe for failure. Failed everywhere it has been tried (at least to my knowledge).

You can't go tight on the playlist cause you burn everyone out within a few months and you can't have too much variety or people will tune out songs they don't know. Believe it or not, not everyone is on the New Order bandwagon. And trying to make Mom and Dad's music somehow sound hip only makes the format sound worse. The San Diego station that tried it was just painfull to listen to. That's why it is not here anymore.

As a big fan of the 80's (wish they'd never left, really)I am sad to tell you this. But the truth cannot be ignored. If you can't someone like me who loves the 80's on board, who will you get?

I know, I know - no one has ever attempted it the way you would. That's cause money is on the line and well, you know all the rest.

Another format on 103.1? This would appear a good move by Entravision, though.

The La Preciosa in Las Vegas, KWID 101.9, has local PM drive.

So in that case, Recuerdo is more like a Spanish Classic Hits station, and José more like the true Spanish Adult Hits station?

I'd also heard that was the case.

No, as David mentioned, it would likely be on 97.5 rather than 103.1 ...

The 103.1 simulcast is not ideal for Spanish language formats.

Oops. Didn't see where he'd said that.

Not for long. They just signed a huge contract for a guy from Mexico to do PM drive on the network, since the efforts to localize in LV and Dallas were the worst dayparts on both stations.

No, Jose plays broader in styles, but plays the same eras. Has a few more recent songs as a percentage of mix, but its main difference is having no jocks.

He didn't say it this time - but it's been discussed in previous threads...

Discussed to death, actually.

I would suggest to Justin -- and anyone else new to this board -- reading a month or two of past threads (yes, I mean going three or four pages deep) before posting here.

The regulars here operate on the presumption that everyone has read what has been discussed before, and if you go back and read the old threads you will avoid inadvertently sticking your foot in your mouth ...
______________

Usually, I keep up to date on what I post about, but I don't believe that KLYY going to Jose has been discussed on any other board (including Spanish), nor on All Access, Radio and Records, etc.

I posted it here. There are two versions of the format change, which is more than rumor. Isabel Gonzalez has been moved to LA from her previous post as PD of KBRG in San Jose (which was sold by Entravision) and is waiting for a research project to be finished to change the format on either 97.5 or 103.1 or both, where she will be PD.

The issue today is which station, and what format. If they are doing research, it means they probably will not use the network José feed, which has not debuted strong anywhere.

Well, here's the thread. See for yourself.

I note that the thread is only six weeks old.
______________
