What does the new PBS mean for Public Broadcast in Boston

There's an elephant in the room at PBS. The funding is safe, but now the whining and complaining "right" is not content to have Rush and Bill O'Relly,
two individuals who would have been bounced off the airwaves for their indiscretions in a sane world (not a perfect world, just a sane one)...they want to control all the airwaves, inhibit Freedom of Speech, and issue propaganda with no room for independent thought.

Politics infiltrating radio on a local level. Is the news on PBS going to be tainted just because the facts filtering through are called "Progressive" when the truth is PBS basically airs the reality of war and what is really happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, North Korea, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, etc. etc.

Isn't it very dangerous to have the channels of information clogged by
rhetoric, and be told that the truth is "Liberal rhetoric", when all it is happens to be factual information the Republican White House does not want us to see or hear. Kind of like going after Ted Koppel for showing caskets of those who gave their lives. Supporting the troops by showing the world what
this Administration is doing to them.

It is frightening to think that PBS can be silenced by a dictatorship - and that people question the discussion on this board. That is scary.

Be aware my progressive friend..all is not safe as long as the elephant is being ridden by our new enemy Tomlinson.....and the funding was returned but the funding to keep/build the infrastructure up to the new digital standards /keep satellite networking up to date was not restored.....over 89m million remains out of the funding and an additional 23 million for education initiatives....who who would think that PBS/NPR would be so threatened....by an organization tasked with protecting it from politicians and ideology....

I, like you, have been arguing for having a public radio system that citizens do not feel is biased but in fact is a wonderful service provided to all Americans ...not liberals...not conservatives..but all. The right wing attempts to paint Public radio/television as biased...but no one so far is buying it.....

PBS/NPR wont be silenced for the moment but all of us must keep a close eye on the elephant as you mentioned....Tomlinson and this adminstration must be challenged every time they take action to "fix" what is not needed to be fixed... until a responsible administration comes in that doesnt have to try to dominate the media, the print media, and now public television.... hopefully the 2006 elections will began that change and quickly....
