Nah, no trace at all, which is dissappointing. KBME doesn't even make it to Corpus Christi :(

This was during the day and I was using a radio called the CCRadioEP, with only its big 8" quad coil ferrite bar antenna.

710 KIRO Seattle, WA (Sports)
730 CHMJ Vancouver, BC (All Traffic)
770 KTTH Seattle, WA (Talk)
790 KGMI Bellingham, WA (Talk)

~2mi. N of OR border, just east of the I205 corridor--

520 = Navtex (actually 518, but my radio doesn't go down that far)
530 = Either WPHG710 (PDX TIS), W???690 (TIS near Ridgefield) or (sometimes) an ODOT TIS on 84 just east of Troutdale
540 = faint carrier
550 = KOAC
560 = mess
570 = KVI
580 = mess
590 = mess, sometimes KQNT
600 = KOGO
610 = KPOJ's sideband or off-frequency KOGO, depending on how my aerial is rotated
620 = JPOJ
630 = KPOJ sideband, sometimes KTRW fighting with KFXD
640 = mess
650 = mess
660 = KTNN
670 = KBOI
680 = KNBR
690 = CBU
700 = mess
710 = KIRO, usually fighting with KSPN
720 = mess
730 = CHMJ
740 = KXL sideband, sometimes (rarely) KCBS
750 = KXL
760 = KXL sideband
770 = mess, sometimes KTTH
780 = KKOH
790 = KGMI and about 10 other stations under it
800 = KPDQ
810 = KGO

Navtex stations received:
NMC, "C" (San Francisco, sometimes fights with NMQ in Cambria)
VAJ, "D" (Prince Rupert, BC) not very often
XLK835, "H" (Tofino, BC) usually
NMW, "W" (Astoria, OR) almost always
NOJ, "J" and "X" (Kodiak, AK) sometimes
NMO, "O" (Honolulu) VERY rarely!

After the earthquakes/tsunami in Japan a couple months ago, all the Navtex stations were on the air at the same time, transmitting data simultaneously, coming through as just a horrible oscllating noise that neither I nor my computer could make any sense of. Definitely a time when the capture effect would have helped greatly!

You get KGMI all the way down THERE? I thought the end of their fringe (daytime) signal was just south of Olympia and last useable signal ended just south of downtown Seattle....

Sometimes I do at night, if I am using the F1HD and the Selectatenna. Usually it tends to beburied under all the noise and other non-identifiable stations. Daytime, 790's an empty frequency round here.

(I should have also mentioned in my bandscan that it's primarily of my night-time reception, with the exception of the local Portlnd stations and Astoria Navtex, which are present day and night.)

790 is also a very messy freqency after sunset as well. One station on 790 (weak KGMI) turns into about 6 stations, from WA to CA and back East and northeast toward MT and AB.

The closer to the Puget Sound you are, the better KGMI comes in. They sound almost local on my car radio around Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle (with some undersqwak over from KTTH on 770.)

The further east you go, KGMI's signal dissolves pretty badly. They are pretty weak around Kenmore and Bothell. They came back into semi-local strength when I got into Lynnwood.

At night, you can't even hear them at all in Mount Vernon. But they're pretty strong in the San Juan Islands.

790 is a near graveyard channel at night in most areas south of the Whatcom County line with several stations duking it out....I heard KABC once in Everett, but much of the time, it's KJRB or a Canadian country station that comes in the strongest south of Bellingham....

The Canadian C&W station is CFCW 790 out of Camrose, AB. In the winter they sometimes dominate the channel, and sometimes over an hour before sunset in the winter.

I have never gotten KABC, BTW.
