Used to work for Gold 104 and WWAY tv3 in Wilmington about 15 years ago. Was wondering myself as Don Arnson from WODR in Whiteville is also.

He also did midday's for WGNI-FM when he first came to Wilmington, the last i heard he was doing sales for Cumulus Wilmington.

Yeah, he's selling at Cumulus Wilmington. He's still doing the acting thing every now and again...most recently in the George Clooney movie, Leatherheads. He actually has quite a decent sized role in that movie as the radio play-by-play announcer.

"Gold 104" was a automated "oldies" station that was the first format that occupied 104.5 when it signed on in Wilmington back in the
early 1990's(if my date is correct)

Okay, that would be WRQR.

For some odd reason they now have the letters WILT and the name Sunny 104.5.

Can you provide proof of the old name and format so it can go on Wikipedia? Come to think of it, they generally are pretty lenient with unsourced information about radio.

Paul Knight, who is currently at Sea-Comm, may have some answers about the original call letters of "Gold 104", and other information, since he was behind putting this on the air...
