When the show ended, Jaleel White's acting career stalled. He now writes a blog for NBA.com and attends a lot of basketball games.

Poor guy is a very talented man (sings as well as acts), but he will forever be typecast as Urkel. One of the reasons they started writing his suave alter ego "Stefan" into more and more scripts is that White desperately wanted to show that he could play roles other than nerdy geeks.

His acting career really did stall, he had that one short-lived UPN sitcom that aired about five years, and except for a cameo apperances (the movie Big Fat Liar with Frankie Muniz, Paul Giamatti, and Amanda Bynes), he hasn't done much in front of the camera. White is now a professional writer.

Anyone know what that UPN sitcom was? I think it also starred the girl who played "Punky Brewster" back in the '80s.

Actually he appeared on two TV shows after " Family Matters" One show was called "Charlie and Company", that included cast members Flip Wilson, Gladys Knight and Della Reese. It aired from 1985 to 86.

The second show, which may be the one you are referring to, was called "Grown Ups". It aired from 1999 to 2000 and only featured 22 episodes.

Give Jaleel White credit. By all accounts, though he was definitely typecast as "Urkel" in Family Matters, he never let himself get bitter or angry over it, unlike some stars who have been discussed recently that may have "hated" their shows.
