What ever happened to.........

This should go on a Cincinnati TV message board...but I will go ahead and post here....

Whatever happened to:

Phil Samp
Tony Sands
Jack Moran

Names from my childhood that I remember watching...

Oh yeah--I was on Uncle Al (Lewis') show when I was 6 LOL

Samp passed a few years back. The same for Sands and Moran - in the late 90s.

I often wonder if Uncle Al is still living Randy? I heard you can buy videos of his show somewhere. I was born in 66 and I was on his show when I was 6. Went for my birthday. He yelled at a cameraman while the show went to a commercial. I thought it was funny.

Al was interview on TV not too long ago so I am almost positive he is still alive...I would say he would have to be in his 70s?

Have today's kids ever heard of the Hokie-Pokie? LOL

I sometimes pulled in Uncle Al as a preschooler when the Channel 9 signal came in with good atmospheric conditions in the early morning if you lived north of Dayton.

Found a story about Al and Wanda if you wondered what he's been up to after his show went off the air. (This story was posted in 1999.)

Uncle Al led the Oktoberfest Chicken Dance a year ago. He's still alive, with Captain Windy (Wanda), in Hillsboro.

Phil Samp died last year. Jack Moran, Mike Tangi (The Kwik Brothers), Bob Braun, Al Schottelkotte, The Cool Ghoul (Dick Von Hoene) and Skipper Ryle have all gone over the rainbow to see Judy and Toto. Radio wise, JFPO, Don Webb and Rich King have all gone as well.

Still alive: Bonnie Lou, Bill Myers, Wirt Cain, Larry Smith and the Truckin' Bozo are all very much alive.

Al and Wanda Lewis moved to Highland County some years ago. I think they keep a low profile. Uncle Al's brother was a medical doctor in Montgomery for many years, but has retired or died. I went to him back in the 1970's. He always would kid about his brother. The local joke was the down deep, Uncle Al hated kids. Who knows if that was ever true. He sure got to see alot of them over the years. Friends of mine in their sixties went to their showl, so he must be up in years, that's for sure. Great memories.

Another Cincinnati death last weekend-Hy Ullner, who founded Rink's Department Stores, and appeared on TV as The Bargain City Kid with Willie Thall. They appeared on Big Time Wrestling which had Rink's as a sponsor, doing commercials hawking whatever Rink's had on sale that week. They also hosted Shock Theater on Friday nights for a while on WCPO-TV

Wow Truckin' Bozo is another name....I hear him every once in awhile. I helped train his son Sean in radio in Connersville. Need to find Sean to see if he can get me a job back in radio since he is in that ivory Clear Channel tower LOL

Isnt Steve Sommers Bozo's son and Seans half or step brother ?

Somebody mentioned Rich King awhile back. I filled in for him on WINK/WNOG in Naples/Fort Myers Florida during his last and final bout with Cancer. Had to be around 2004. He had done afternoons 3 to 7pm but then they moved him to mornings nine to noon because it was easier for him as he felt much better during the mornings. The stations were for practicle purposes run from Fort Myers but because Rich lived in Naples, he did his show most times from the Naples studio.

He was most beloved here in Naples and his wife as well as the Rickey King fund named for his son live on here.

Sean Compton has no business being mentioned in the same breath with any of these talents, including his pappy. He exemplifies corporate arrogance in an empty suit.

WOOOOO Smell that....that is the smell of jealousy I think. Yes siree I am jealous too...I helped train Sean in grassroots "How To" radio broadcasting in Connersville
