Hair Peace to hold cancer fund-raiser
By Jeff Fuller, Staff Writer
Thursday, October 27, 2005

Helping women who are dealing with their fight against breast cancer, a new local non profit organization will hold its first major fundraiser, "An Evening of Live Jazz, Blues & Gospel with Vocalist Jessica Lee and Her Band," at Ingomar United Methodist Church's coffee house along W. Ingomar Road in Franklin Park at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

The organization, Hair Peace Charities, provides $100 vouchers to assist women with buying a wig while dealing with the effects of chemotherapy.

Additionally, the organization has formed teams of volunteers that assist breast cancer patients with various tasks including babysitting, transportation, shopping, yard-work and more.

Bonnie Hall, founder, decided to bring the idea to fruition during the summer when her doctor had suggested that she take her work for breast cancer awareness one step further.

As a breast cancer survivor, Hall felt it was important to help those women who are dealing with so many issues in addition to their breast cancer.

Hall, a veteran Pittsburgh radio personality also known as Bonnie Diver, was able to devote more time to the cause after she lost her job with a local radio station.

I can't wait for Oldiescat to make some snide comment about Bonnie Diver, since she is also no longer working in radio.

Well you can expect it, as that is the immaturity that is Oldiescat.

Thanks for posting this Realist. I always enjoyed Bonnie Diver's work.

Kudos to Bonnie for the work that she's doing, but she's not completely out of radio. She's done some part-time work on Y108.

Bonnie Diver also occasionally does fill-in traffic on Y108's AM sibling KDKA.

By the way, it is sad when good voices are jettisoned along with allegedly poor-achieving formats.

I can't say I listened all that often to WRRK as Classic Rock or "rock without rules," but the erratic style of Bob FM cannot be any better.

Sometimes one will get a number of good songs in a row, but more often some stinker comes up that prompts a quick flick of the scan mode on the car radio.

As I wrote elsewhere, finding good music on Bob FM more often is similar to looking for a needle in the haystack.
