What FM Stations Are Received In Both Phila. And NYC?

I was able to get WKXW 101.5 in Philadelphia and Staten Island but nowhere else in the city.

I could get WYNY when they were at 97FM in an eighth floor apartment in West Phila. but nowhere else.

I had a friend who could get 92.3 WXRK (K-Rock) in Kensington (Phila.) on a large rooftop antenna. I was not able to get 92.3 until I was around exit 8A of the NJ Turnpike.
______________

It depends on your antenna. In the Northeast, north of Cottmann Ave, with a good roof antenna and a rotator, you can get New York VHF-TV and most FM stations with a good tuner. Depending on how directional your antenna is there may be problems on stations where there is same-frequency or adjacent frequency over-lap, like CBS-FM/B101. However, the further North you go, the less of a problem this is.

can't get as many because of HD-radio hash on sidebands. 92-3 K-Rock (WXRK New York) used to be audible down to Academy Road exit of I-95 south. HOT-97 (WQHT New York) at times could be heard all the way down to the Girard Ave. exit of I-95 south. Because of the HD hash though almost all NYC FM's have static. 103.5 'KTU can be heard in most of NE Philly (when 103-3 WPRB-FM is off the air at night.)

I heard NJ 101.5 in Manhattan fighting with WPDH 101.5, and NJ 101.5 comes in well in Philly. 97.5 The Hawk comes in well in Philly, and is hard to get in New York City due to WALK 97.5. 94.5 PST is great in Philly, but suffers a lot of interference in New York City. Star 99.1 is OK in New York City, and it used to come in at Philly before Power 99's IBOC trash.

I have heard Hot 97 in Philly before the translators. When the blackout hit New York City in 2003, people could hear almost all the Philly stations in New York.
______________

In most of Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn I can usually pull in WXTU, WYSP, WBEN, WRDW, WSNI & WDAS from Philly.

There was a similar situation during the 1977 blackout. However, since both blackouts occured during hot humid weather, I believe that trop helped out in both instances. When WQXR-FM (96.3) used to sign off at 1 am many years ago, I recall that 96.5 from Philly had trouble reaching NYC during the cold winter months.
