What format would you like to hear on 105.9?

After the stunting on 105.9 is over, what format would you like to see? This question is pure fantasy. I don't want a discussion on ratings, billing, who would listen, etc. I don't want a discussion on speculation. That is not what this question is about. It's just about what you would like to hear on 105.9 after the dust settles.

1. Polkas
2. Reggae
3. Scandanavian Death Metal
4. Outsider music
5. All Lesbian Talk
6. Holiday Format, 24/7/365
7. Radio For The Deaf
8. Insane Clown Posse, 24 Hours
9. Smooth Klezmer
10. All Childrens Records

(Well, you DID ask....)

1. Adult Standards (with TONS of Frank Sinatra)
2. Oldies
3. Lounge/Chill
4. All Emo, All The Time
5. Bollywood tunes

Basically anything BUT country, talk, or... classic (s)hits.

DANCE!!!

But I know it's not going to happen...

I would also go with Adult Standards, I think the format is underserved in the Central FL area.

I've been listening to Art Rooney for years from when he was on WINK 96.9 with his "Retro Dance Party" to Mix 104.7 today as "Club Mix".

It's wierd to see Hot AC formats do this, but I applaud it.

As far as Dance music in Orlando is concerned, XL 106.7 broadcasts live from Dolce with the DJ playing mostly today's Dance Pop Mash-Ups. Mix 105.1 plays some 80's & 90's Dance on weekends. Star 94.5 plays some 90's Old School House Saturday nights. WJRR 101.1 has "Skratch & Sniff", which is "Mash-up".

A little known station, WPRK 91.5 Rollins College, plays Dance mostly on Friday nights to Saturday morning. (I performed here the past couple weeks.)

Other than that, there's still a gaping hole for Dance music since Party 95.3 left.

Dance..

I was surprised the first time I heard "Club Mix" one Saturday night. Anywho...

A good mainstream/classic rock format.......

Orlando has not had a station like this in years and the format is missed, other cities have it, why the hell don't we????

Well, it looks like we won't be finding out what the new format will be for a while. WOCL is repeating the 52-hour History of Rock & Roll program. At least that's what's being played on their web stream.

In terms of what kind of format would be right for WOCL, one which is a good combination of mainstream and classic rock music would work, just like DIZ Guy said.

If I was the person in charge, I'd go with a Variety format approach. Even though I probably won't get good ratings, it serves the community directly with a wide range of musical styles, like Classic Rock, Rock & Roll Oldies, Underground Rap, Hi-Energy Dance at a scheduled time. Heck of a thing to try to manage, but we need to put our HEARTS in doing radio rather than let the researchers & businessmen do the work. That's why I love WPRK 91.5. Even though this station is not LPFM, the signal can show people just outside of Orlando what we're REALLY made of.

Even though I probably won't get good ratings, it serves the community directly...

Hooray! It would serve the community! Yeehaw!

Uh, which community? The community of 50 year-old redneck rappers on ecstacy? Come on now. I'll refer to radio_connector's post on another thread -- remember that this is a BUSINESS. Just because it's entertainment doesn't mean it's not a business. All that evil, dreaded research is the reason why Budweiser, General Motors, Microsoft and the like make billions of dollars every year and employ millions of people, putting food on lots of tables.

On another thread, this would be a perfectly legit rebuttal. On this thread, there is no wrong answer. It's just what you would like to hear. Period.

I am the "If you play it, they will come" approach. You never know. There are some people out there who love redneck rap and have glowsticks & lava lamps in their closet. I was just trying to come up with a solution to make the most people happy, not in a business sense. This is an opinion thread.

"Making the most people happy" would mean you're number 1 in the ratings -- good for business. "Making the people (in my social circle, without regards to research and what makes sense in this market) happy" equals death.

I would like to see a true alternative rock station like Real Radio on the weekends...but...

I'm feeling classic hits or country will make it to 105.9...maybe a variety hits styled station.

Radio-X

i doubt country. we have enough country here.
i see either classic hits, variety or mondern and a classic rock mix. that's what we need. no more country or something like that. something fresh and new needs to happen on 105.9. i hope they put 100000 watts to good use.
