What Happened at KISS?

Any idea on who the next PD will be and what can Beasley do with that station (as country)
to make an impact in the market.

STOP SCARING ME!!

I thought you were going to say Jeff & Dan are back.... ;D ;)

Doing some research into the position: Does anyone remember in early 2000's eith before or after Bob McKay, A PD was hired and the staff threw him under the bus to Joe Bell? Anyone remember the facts behind this? Was it the current staff or have they been replaced?

Hi BeefJerky, the problem with their situation is that they have done so poorly from a ratings standpoint that they miss out on a ton of national buys. I know this because I saw this when I was selling the Beasley cluster nationally. And WQAM is even worse. Now compound that with the fact that Dave Rigby is out of their national selling, Matt Bell is gone and Gary Sarner is just about the biggest horse's rear-end in all of Miami radio and it isn't much wonder that the cluster as a whole doesn't thrive like it should.

Matter of fact, I heard a top Beasley manager question the viability of country radio in Miami in the first place. It really isn't a country-type market.

Hey Herb-
Real class to hide behind a fake name and trash others. Class act, you [EDIT] Pretty sure you must have been fired from Beasley for your incompetence.
I know Gary Sarner - he's a class act and works hard. No one's perfect but to take shots at him like that, boy you must feel real good about yourself, huh?
Understand Bob Barnett was fired because no one could get along with him. Something I'm sure you can relate to.

[EDIT-namecalling]

My apologies if I offended you or anyone else. I was making an observation and I'll leave it at that.

P.S. The boards in Chicago and Atlanta are ten times as bad, but I see your point.

I spent several years working in the country scene in the late 80s/early 90s in S. Fla., heard the same thing back them, saw the numbers back then.

If you are looking for big shares with a country format, it won't happen.

If you are looking for an audience that brings loyal listening and shopping habits and will give consistent numbers over a period of time, then it's the format for you.

SS, DD applies here.

Kiss is like an appliance when it comes to Country and they generate numbers, just not huge shares of overall 12+.

It would be sad if you couldn't find at least one Country station in South Florida. There certainly has been a long history of Country Music in "Palmtree Country" of if you like "Sun Country". I guess there has been a population shift but with the right promotional effort I'll bet Kiss could win some converts and add to their base listening audience.
