What Happened To 95 Triple X Nights and Afternoons?

Triple X may not be what it once was, but then again RADIO isn't quite what it once was either. Depressing AND true. By the way, just read through this whole thread and I'd guess one of the main contributors just screams "I'm Kannon pretending not to be Kannon." And Will I'm not talking about you. ;D

Because of the rise of "other media" like ipods, satellite, internet, and others. It's become harder to garner listeners. They're still there, just not as passionate as they once were for the most part.

Oh. You meant the second part? Well I guess you COULD be Kannon's mother, but I'm guessing not. ;)

Nah. Neither. I just think the station has come down a lot and I want to put it out there.

Hey, leave JAG alone you guys. I worked with him at CC/Burl and he was not only a very good guy (unlike some there - ugh!) but also a young pro looking to learn and grow. Isn't that what small markets like Burl are for? That and for old duffers like me to get s-canned...gotta stop putting so much Nyquil in my coffee. And good comment on Jenny Foxx. She's a pro and always has been better than the market. While I'm at it, the same can be said for Lana...class and talent.

I too have to defend Jag. He is a very hard worker and a really nice guy.

My next point is that whoever thinks the imaging that Kannon did was on par with the imaging JT did...well lets just say your opinion has no credibility.

To also long for the days of the Kannon show at night on 95 triple X...that also makes you lose credibility.

[EDIT]

[EDIT-inflammatory]

If you don't like Hamilton why bash Kaiser? From what I have heard Kaiser has skills, balls and brain. Sure, he's young but Hamilton made a good move getting him early in his career.

I wish I could what was so inflammatory that it had to be edited out.

Regardless, I agree that bashing Kaiser is silly. This is his first professional gig, and he filled the shoes of someone who was there for 5+ years or so.

Considerring the circumstances, he's done well and that show's chemistry is as good as ever since everyone knows where they sit in the room.

This is why this board is so great: A thread like this gets going where we talk about something that doesn't involve adult radio in Maine, and a bunch of people come out of the woodwork and create handles just to post about this, never to be seen again. I love how everybody has an opinion on the X.

Triple X is still the best thing on the radio dial in Burlington. I've been and fan for years and I think this may be the best line up they have had in a very long time since...... the days of Jessica doing middays and Sweet Pete doing nights. Yes I've been a fan for that long! Ben Hamilton proves once again he knows what he's doing. Mike and Chantal are stronger than ever, Michelle sounds real and keeps it moving in Middays, Sweet Pete is a shoe in on afternoons, and Jag is the closest thing too Sweet Pete at night since Sweet Pete at night. I know that Melissa went to FLZ and not sure what happened to Kannon or Kobe (the guy before Kannon) But I think they only stopped triple x to living up to the standard it is known around the country for.

agreed. you all can feel the way you want about people on the X now, people on the X in the past. if a jock worked at 95 Triple X they clearly lived up to the standards of a programmer like ben hamilton. my opinion stands as it is that this station is on a downward trend util there is more talent at night and middays. imaging also has not been as hot as it had been. this opinion stands. address nights, imaging, and middays and watch your numbers rise, mr. hamilton.

Kannon has been back and forth with The Rose for years and is kind of a homebody from what I hear. Don't forgot he was originally on Alice when he first came to the market and his name was Dan (Mayer?). He also did some work with OHP. Not at all surprised to know he's back on the cape.

what's funny is that so much time is being spent on this board on a person with not much on-air talent. This is a post started by this person, that is very clear. My friends in the buildling tell me the real reason why he is no longer working at Triple X is because he was being forced out by the consultant. He knew he was going to be fired for pulling in very poor numbers so he left for "other" reasons.

If you say so. I never really heard him.

This is a post started by this person, that is very clear.

It does keep getting bumped for a thread with little substance.

My friends in the buildling tell me the real reason why he is no longer working at Triple X is because he was being forced out by the consultant.

Ken Benson. As an X alum himself, he carries much weight with Hamilton.

He knew he was going to be fired for pulling in very poor numbers so he left for "other" reasons.

That's a rarity for that station. Generally, the only way you leave the X is by taking a job in a bigger market or quitting altogether. It's difficult to get fired by Ben Hamilton.

For years, Hamilton would proclaim "only three people didn't play my game" (two of which he fired, Jon Brooks and Lana Wilder...they're still employed, and the X has a winning morning show...worked out well for everybody.) Besides, how does the X know how poor the "numbers" are? They haven't subscribed in years.

I knew him personally at one point and let me tell you... wouldn't shock me AT ALL!

I was sent over to this board by some friends who told me I "needed" to see what was being said about me. Me = Kannon. Let's answer some questions:

1) I do work on the air on Cape now (8 hours every weekend). I am there because I am great friends with the staff there and it does help me to keep fresh. I plan on staying rooted in the Boston/Cape Cod area for a while. I lived in Connecticut for 5 years so I am by no means a "homebody." However, not gonna lie, I prefer Boston to anywhere I've lived.

2) Ben Hamilton is the godfather of WXXX. He makes the majority of decisions..and very respectfully consults with all his staff, including me, about every aspect of the station which made him all the more better as a boss because he is open-minded. There was never fear of being fired, nor was there pressure to do so. I left on my own terms. I enjoyed my time there and have nothing but respect for the staff there. Like in any work situation, there were ups, downs, arguments, bonding... but I did and still do truly respect and care for everyone there. They brought me a long way and I'm grateful. I also think the station is in great hands now on all shifts. I do wish them the very best. -- I was even offered to come do a part-time shift if i was ever in the area, which I may just take them up on one of these days.

3) The individual who brought up my time at Alice clearly is a former co-worker. He, not she (I do know who he is) is entitled to his thoughts about me and I do hope he is happy with himself these days. I continue to welcome him to say whatever he wants about me, negative or positive.

Finally, I know this is the first time I have made a remark on this or any board on radio-info. Those who have had nice things to say, I do appreciate it. Those who have not, feel free to continue commenting...it is actually helpful to keep things real and unbiased. Thanks again all.

Does hotlining jocks during their airshifts and berating his employees constitute "respectful" in your book? How about making threats to the employees about their salaries and their non-compete agreements?

Or has he magically changed since I worked there?

I use to listen wxxx until about years ago with I got sirius sat. radio. It's the best investment I made. Esp. for up here. I've live in the Burlington metro area for about 5 years and I'm use to the boston metro area stations. I listen to kiss 108 from boston when I'm at work in the morning. I would have to say that Matty in the morning blows away any kind of junk that I have to listen to the the burlington area.

Do you listen to Hits 1? I'm not a fan of their music selection (although I've always respected Kid Kelly), but their imaging is stellar, most specifically their "Pop Culture Chronicles" feature, which I'm surprised commercial Top 40's have yet to duplicate.
