What happened to Alpha Media's Bay Area OM?

Shouldn't this posting, and the subsequent hiring, be put on hold until after the merger? Connoisseur might have its own candidate in mind, right?

Since Connoisseur and Alpha already have a partial LMA in place, one could reasonably assume Connoisseur is aware of what’s happening and will have input on who the new hire will be. If Connoisseur has its own person in mind, it could always send that candidate now.

Anyone who takes that job, though, should probably rent until the deal is completed. If that person gets hired only to be replaced immediately, it wouldn’t be the first time.

I always remember the story of Gary Reynolds, who left a PD job in St. Louis for one in Dallas. Two weeks after he arrived, he was out of a job when his new station changed formats. He went on to have a nice career in the market, first with CBS Radio and later with ABC Radio Networks, but finding out he was out of a job before he was unpacked had to have been a major shock. Even in larger markets, radio people don’t usually make enough money to handle a massive hit like that.

Here is a larger view of what's happening:

Bevins oversaw the format change of the Connoisseur station on Long Island to country. He will have oversight of KBAY.

The opening for the OM gig in the Bay Area was posted middle of last week. Based on Huff's post, it appears the position has been vacant for close to a year, presumably due to budget tightening.
