what happened to blake dannen on the hawk?

He went to a better station, although, if i wer him, i would have went to The Bone. aka the best station that ever existed in the lehigh valley.
 
According to my sources, I hear this was strictly a salary dump situation, nothing performance related. As most broadcast companies are struggling to make payroll, jocks are falling by the wayside.
Seems like Bill Sheridan is doing Blakes shift, a definite downgrade, He used to V/T the evening, but now seems like hes manning the studio live, so Nassau appears to be maximizing their investment in him.
This is a trend that seems to be going nationwide now, to save money, no more off air PDs.
The shift will suffer, but I'm betting Nassau will do alright with this move anyway.

how is the bone terrible? they actually have the balls to play real rock, instead of the same 20 currents zzo throws in the mix with the same tired and worn out classic rock tracks. dont get me wrong, zzo aint that bad, but compared to the bone, that station just has ass written all over it.
 
If you listen to 91.7 WMUH now until 2pm you can hear Hedge (aka Blake Dannen) today! It's his 1st air shift for WMUH!
 
the bone is terrible because first of all half the time i turn the stupid station on it doesnt come in because of the garbage signal they got and second of all i dont like their hard rock
 
Blake was laid off in a budget cut, pure and simple. I heard that Nassau didn't want to do this, but felt they had to. He was consistently #1 or #2 in PM drive on the #1 station in the Valley (according to P25-54). This was not performance-based at all....it's the recession. He was already pulling weekends on WMMR. He's been part-time at MMR for over a year. He won't stay on the beach for long....

then maybe zzo is the station for you. and your stations doesnt have that good of a signal either. i live in schuylkill county and zzo is unlistenable in most areas, where, wmmr is clear as day. now dont get me wrong, compared to the bone, zzo's signal is great. but the bone coveres bethlehem al;lentown, and easton with a good signal, as well as the stroudsburg and mt pocono areas, and that is their target area. whereas zzo also goes halfway down bucks before it starts to fade away. and the bones signal has NOTHING to do with the quality of the station. they cover the allentown/bethlehem area fine, and its all that counts.

and the bone is what zzo should sound like. how they can play new nickleback, and can ignore new five finger death punch (real rock), and still be called a "rock" station, is beyond me. infact, if you dont like hard rock, i will recommend you to 1025. now hears a station thats plain terrible. like i said, zzo aint that bad, with a few improvements, they might actually be good. but pop hits y102 needs a complete makeover before they will ever rock.

im not a bone fan because their nassau owned, im a bone fan because they actually go full out into the active rock format without overplaying the classics. hell, even mmr skips out on a few modern rock tracks, but for the most part, they got the format down well. and also an honorable mention, 1057 The X out of harrisburg does an excellent job.

i dont want to bash your music taste, but im trying to back up my point here. if you like a lot modern and hard rock, the bone is for you, if your more classic and lighter rock listen to zzo.
 
i agree. The Bone knows what ROCK is...and ZZO has lost their way and sounds lost. The Bone plays a lot of cool stuff that ZZO doesn't, like TOOL, Pantera, the harder-edged RHCP stuff like Suck My Kiss and Higher Ground....the list goes on and on. ZZO's idea of ROCK is f'n Def Leppard. Gimme a break. Yes, The Bone has a weaker signal and there's nothing they can do about that. But chew on this fact: In the counties where The Bone has a full signal (the only TRUE comparison), they're #1 M18-34. It only took them a year to beat ZZO.
 
even if the bone had real dj's in the morning i prolly still wouldnt listen to them who the hell is free beer and hot wings bearman and keith have been together for 21 years almost as long as im alive they must be doin something right and thats why zzo is better
 
"must be doing something right"? whaaaa? The ratings are in the TOILET and going down...across the whole station. The Bearman & Keith are not a serious ratings threat to anybody else in the market. If you tune into the morning "show" you can't tell if it's 1986 or 2009. They haven't done anything new or interesting in, literally, decades now. That's partly their own fault and partly because there is no LEADERSHIP in that building....nobody is pushing them to actually WORK and be relevant. The main reason they still have a job is not because they're GOOD or an ASSET to the company. It's simply because CC-Allentown doesn't have any money to hire a decent morning show. That's as simple as it gets.
 
so your tellin me that bearman dont make 100 grand a year and keith at least 65 if they wanted to they could go hire some hot shot for less than that but they dont cant wait to hear them tomorrow morning especially at 8 when garrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyy laubach makes an appearance
 
freebeer and hotwings is syndicated out of WGRD 97.9 out of Grand Rapids Michigan. ive been a fan of FBHW for about 6 or 7 years now, when WTHK put them on after getting rid of bob and tom, now they are on 105.7 in the eastern philly areas and on 107.1 in the lehigh valley. but if you wanna talk about morning shows, try Preston & Steve on MMR. and how does ZZO having a good morning show make them better than the bone? aint it about the music? the bone could have delilah on in the m orning and the music would still be better.
