Mike Chamberlain was missing from Friday's GEAZ and the Newsroom show that he usually hosts. Just figured he took the night off. Today I noticed his bio is missing from the KTVK website. Anybody know what happened to him?

Hopefully, nothing terribly bad, but a little background -- Chamberlin was moved to news several years ago when Belo took a look at his salary and decided they weren't paying that much for a sports anchor. It's possible that money could have been an issue again. Also, he never seemed comfortable as a news anchor.

Maybe they'll move Ross Shimabuku to news. Eegads, what am I saying?

"Effective today Mike Chamberlin is no longer employed at 3TV. We thank Mike for his contributions to Channel 3 over the years and wish him the best. Effective immediately, Beverly Kidd will anchor the 8pm, 9pm and 10pm newscasts until further notice."

Sounds like the same notice when Liz Habib's contract was not renewed. KTVK must have this one stored in their word processor and just change the names when needed.

Just the thought gives me the willys...

This should be a red flag for the rest of the big money players at CH 3...

BUT...the promos would be so cool with Buku doing running backflips to land in his anchor chair. Now that would be worth watching (at least for about a week)!

Chambo in Limbo!

I went to Arrowhead Towne Centre over the weekend (22 October) and while I was dodging teenyboppers in the food court I see that Mike Chamberlain's picture is still frozen in time with Tara, Bev, and Patti. We need to start a fund in order to free Chambo!

A couple of days after Chambo was let go, during the 10pm News Show, 3-TV played the "your watching the News Show with Mike, Beverly, Royal and Ross" promo.

Someone on AZFamily.com posted that with 3-TV's attempt at casual news and relaxed clothing styles of on-air personalities, Mike did not fit into that mold. He would remove his jacket for the 8pm "Newsroom" show but he was always in shirt and tie (and I don't believe I ever saw him in blue jeans like everyone else there). Just last week, even Royal Norman was on the air , san tie. Patti complemented him on how nice and relaxed it looked, but you could tell that Royal was not comfortable. He also wore jean (with shirt/tie and coat) another night. I guess you have to comply with the "dress code" or you're gone.
