What happened to Delilah?

The one good thing you used to be able to say was that at least the music was soft. Not soft enough for me, but still ...

But one night last week I was turning from one station to another and, on both "Delilah" stations I picked up, heard "When Doves Cry" by Prince. This was followed by "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams and, after a caller who likely requested it, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith. The next song I didn't know but it was the sort of garbage that belongs on hot AC, not regular AC.

Is this what Delilah has come to?

I believe Premiere sends out 2 forms of Delilah, one for regular ACs and one as a "gold based" AC feed, but to my knowledge there is no "delilah only" feed where you get the host segments and program your own music (like Tesh, and a couple other Premiere products)

Correct.

All 3 songs you mentioned above are all part of a regular A/C's playlist today. It's now 2010!! Delilah is no longer just a "love songs" show. The Aerosmith song was played as a current by the bulk of Soft A/C stations when it out in 1997.

Agree Seltzer. And yes, two feeds are offered. Here are samples of both:

Main (most carried):

Madonna - Crazy For You
Des'Ree - You Gotta Be
Leona Lewis - Better In Time
Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
Natasha Bedingfield - Pocketful Of Sunshine
Colbie Caillat - Fallin For You
Phil Collins - Against All Odds
Barry White - First/Last/Everything
Elliott Yamin - Wait For You
Eric Clapton - Wonderful Tonight
Chicago - You're The Inspiration
Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed
No Doubt - It's My Life

Alternative (more gold based):

Pat Benatar - Love Is a Battlefield
Aretha Franklin & George Michael - I Knew You Were Waiting
OneRepublic / Timbaland - Apologize
America - Sister Golden Hair
Vanessa Carlton - A Thousand Miles
Green Day - Good Riddance
Journey - Open Arms
Eddie Money - Baby Hold On
Don Henley - The End of The Innocence
Sophie B. Hawkins - As I Lay Me Down
Tina Turner - What's Love Got To Do With It

The alternative feed is my personal preference, even though I don't care for the show. The main difference I think is that the second one doesn't play currents. WASH/Washington, DC is the most prominent station I can think of that carries it, not many do.

What? 2010? No, it's still 1981, and we should be hearing nothing but Barry Manilow, Niel Diamond and the Carpenters on anyting called AC. Never mind what the C stands for!

One exception------Lite FM in NYC gets Delilah tracks and play their own music.

Even the most extreme Delilah feed wouldn't be rhythmic/loud enough for Lite FM these days

Wonder if it could be because the target audience in that market happens to respond to a more up-tempo music mix overall? Nah, couldn't be that. ;)

It sounds like they are using McVay Media consulting as well.It runs very close to music heard on the John Tesh Radio Show(Satellite Version).

Actually, John Tesh's music is softer than Delilah's a lot of times, IMO.

I know what Lite FM does works for them, they're just different from the typical AC station.

But all in a row like that?

I don't know what the middle two songs sound like, but the top and bottom songs aren't the soft music from before either. Delilah's music always was softer than the typical AC.

Give me an AC station that plays Delilah's alternate music, take out Delilah's annoying voice, and I would listen to that a lot!

Just to clarify, I didn't know this part was even in the post. It does not reflect my opinion.

The Tesh show does not program the music. It's all done locally at each station. John just records a bunch of his "stories" and the station fits them into the local programming. So each station that carries Tesh will have a different music mix surrounding him.
