What happened to FM Talk?

I rarely think to turn on the radio when they're doing smooth jazz, but I like some of the stuff they do then.

One Saturday night I heard Dee Snider's "House of Hair." Motley Crue, Poison, etc.

Did anyone know "Unskinny Bop" was nonsense lyrics used when they wrote the music when they were waiting on the real lyrics. The band liked those lyrics so much they kept them.

That was the Saturday after Christmas and I haven't heard anything there since.

So exactly what is your question?

I haven't heard FM Talk since before Christmas. Is something wrong with the signal? Since WABZ moved to Charlotte in 2004, there has been no reason for me not to hear the station. Why was I hearing Dee Snider? These are valid questions.

They have been fine in Winston-Salem in the last two days. Could be some temperature inversion that is causing another signal to override them. Their signal has always had issues west of Winston.

I think there's probably a Rock101.1 in Anderson SC that inverted its way into your receiver that night, vchimp.
I think it's WRQK.
A blessed event, to be sure, especially happening at Christmastime and all that, despite its short tenure.
Rock101 used to be pretty big in Asheville back in the early 90s, at least among people I knew.

101.1 WZTK wasn't that strong here in Wake Forest for a couple weeks around Christmas. We can only get them in the house on a SuperRadio and in the car. Even the SuperRadio got nothing for that couple weeks, and usually a day or two every three or four weeks otherwise.

Sometimes the 101.1 in New Bern/Greenville/wherever COL is has bled in over them periodically since they've been FM Talk.
That was weird hearing Neal Boortz or Michael Savage going in and out with The PartyFM or HotFM's dancy music they were playing back then. :D

Youstart a thread without a quote or a story? I have no idea what you are talking about???

Go easy on Ape. He is correct. The post was very vague. FM Talk is a format not a radio station. A simple addition like "I think the signal is gone" would have helped. And why the rambling right in the middle of his point about some trivia that has NOTHING to do with the post. Does this guy work in radio. Might be a more successful communitcator with some leesons. Oh wait I forgot, no one is wrong anymore, just the people who point out things. I guess Ape and I are in the same boat.

Feh, FM Talk the format doesn't do much smooth jazz on the weekends.
So it wasn't that hard to figger out yall, not like a lot of posts that are on here. ;D

Is that the station that employs that cigar chomping putz Brett Whitmire?

You guys are wrong ... and right!

We really should use real call letters and not slogans on this board. Too many out of market people lurking (particularly since they combine Raleigh and Greensboro).

You're right. I should have made myself clearer because FM Talk is a name a lot of people wouldn't know.

I'm not a professional. Just a listener.

I still haven't heard this station (WZTK) since before Christmas.

Problem solved:
WROQ Rock 101 Greenville SC runs the "House of Hair"

Whew! My good deed for the day! Now I can coast, it's not even 10 yet! 8)

Problem not solved. Something was seriously wrong at the Triad-area talk station. I still haven't really picked up a worthwhile signal lately.

And I never can remember to turn it on when they have smooth jazz.

Sorry I can not solve all problems, just the ones I can solve. ;)
Well, regardless of whether I ever find out what did happen, the signal was back to normal this past weekend. Unfortunately, I only heard one good smooth jazz song. That's what I get for watching a movie and forgetting to even turn the radio on.

Of course, I have a radio set on a standards station and I listened most of the afternoon to that. At long last, there was no basketball game.
