What Happened to Grant Merrill?

I have noticed that Grant Merrill is no longer GM of the sports group in NW Arkansas.

What happened and where is he now?

Fired, bout a month ago. Dont know where he is now. Again... waaayyyy too many sports stations in this market. 3 shares...thats all there is to go around. And dont even get me started on the revenue end of it. 3 stations going after that small a pie is stupid, and the Sports Hog is feelin it.

And the sad thing is there are other formats that are needed in this market that nobody will do. The market is boring with no creativity, and has been that way for many years I didn't think that I would miss XM, but I do.

Saw Grant today for a few minutes....seemed to be making it OK.
I am not at liberty to say what is going on with him, but I suspect he will announce something shortly.

i talk to grant on a regular basis. he is doing well and has some great things going for him. one thing i can tell you is that he is a hard worker and it looks like it may pay off.

I left The Hog at the end of April....

We have put together a network of stations carrying morning and afternoon sports updates across the state. And we are producing some special feature programs for stations to carry. For example, we'll be at the NCAA Super Regional in Tempe, AZ this weekend with the Hogs doing pre-game and postgame coverage. It has been fun to put together, and believe it or not the bills are actually getting paid so far. I haven't been shamelessly self-promoting the venture just to get all of the kinks worked out and to get it off the ground, but that's what is going on. I've always wanted my own business, and was in a position to get it started, and things are finally underway!

DDay -- thanks man. I appreciate you saying that. You guys were the first to call when I was let go, and that means the world to me.

GM

Best of luck to ya Grant. And Also the Guys at Butler Broadcasting are the first to help someone out in need. My hat is off to those guys over there.
