What happened to Jack Bishop at KAAM?

It had been a while since I listened to KAAM in the afternoons, but when I tuned back in awhile ago, I found that Chuck Brinkman had replaced Jack Bishop. I've serached around on the Internet but there doesn't seem to be any info on what happened. What's the scoop? Also, it seems that KAAM continues their nasty habit of over-dubbing jock names on the PAMS series 28 "77 K-double-AM" sig jingle. The overdub for "Jack Bishop" was in a different key, and really clashed badly with the sig jingle. Now, they've overdubbed an electronic sounding "Chuck Brinkman" (probably in the style of a later PAMS series) over the jingle's strong instrumental ending (or instrumental/vocal ending, depending on which version they have). Pure sacrilige to a jingle fanatic, plus it just sounds tacky...

Jack Bishop was let go by Crawford. The station is on a downhill trend. The Crawfords don't know what they are doing and I found out that they don't treat their advertisers very nice at all, therefore, they don't have very many. Brinkman won't last either.

Hey Chucky,Will you play Sittin' on the dock of the bay? ;D

Jack apparently knew he was on his way out, as he had already been shopping around for a new opportunity before his termination happened. He was already in a partnership creating and marketing syndicated shows for national distribution. Best of luck to him; he's a nice guy and deserves better. The coroner will have to pry Chuck's clenched hands from the Gates knobs at KAAM to get him to leave. You can bet that losing the KLUV gig after 17 years was the most humbling event in his lengthy life. He's just glad to be working, as KAAM is the last stop in DFW radio that plays his music specialty. If he loses this gig, he's probably headed back to Pittsburgh. You can bet that the grandchildren are doing everything they can to make sure that DOESN'T happen!!!

Kind of interesting...there is a KAAM page on Doc Gallagher's website that still has Bishop and Company listed for the afternoon show. I guess Doc isn't into updating his website.Too bad about JB. I enjoyed listening to him...

Say what you want about Chuck. He can outjock most people HALF his age. He still is up, bright, content oriented. But Chuck, lay off that Ottis Redding. I want to hear more of the standards. ONLY the standards really.I will say this about Jack. I loved his music selection and he too was a damn good jock. Too bad they couldn't fit'em all on there. I enjoy the others as well. I guess i'm getting old :'(

Have no fear Bishop will be back. This guy has been a part of this market for 35 years in more formats than anyone. Don't be surprised if he is not envolved in a challenge to KAAM.

I think Chuck sounds great on KAAM, his voice suits well to this format. I bet it was a humbling experience (as it is for anyone) to lose a big gig. I wish Chuck well and hope he spins The Carpenters as much as possible.
