What happened to KLIF-FM HD2 Energy????

Hello All,
I turned on my HD radio at work today Monday 2/1/2010. I found the dumb a......s management changed HD2 format from Energy all 90's music to KLIF 570AM feed. What is up??? I know a lot of people like the Energy all 90's music format on HD2. If you like to add KLIF-FM HD3 make it go with KLIF 570AM. I want my Energy 93.3 HD2 back!!!! I like to have seen Energy 93.3HD1 not I93.3HD1. I did not buy a HD radio for stations to change around HD sub-channels every month.

People actually BUY HD radios? I always assumed they were just promo items that radio dorks like us seemed to acquire.

I bought one so my dogs could listen to The Oasis when they are home alone (they are very picky). :D Other than that I don't listen to it.

My guess would be that the mgmt decided rather than wasting time and effort for a format that has yet to show in the ratings (If I remember correctly, no HD signals have made minimum reporting standards, and the only streaming signal to qualify is the Ticket's***) and rather use that HD signal to help an AM station.

IIRC, they're doing the same thing with the Wolf's HD signal- that's used for KTCK, which gives them an FM-HD "presence" for people scanning, people whohave cars with HD, people who can't pick up the Ticket in their office building, etc...

***If I remember correctly, the Ticket's stream doesn't do well 6+, but shows up with better ratings than a lot of traditional OTA stations in M25-54. For example, for all the talk about 1360, Big Dick Hunter, P&K, etc, the Ticket stream got better ratings than that radio station did...

I got rid of my HD Radio. I love Vibe 99.5 HD-2. They took that away. I loved Energy 93.3. Apparently they took that away too. Makes me even more glad that I got rid of my HD Radio.

Alot of the stations are putting their AM stations on the HD.2. I've been listening to KRLD and Charley Jones at night. Like being in the studio. Austin has their AM station on the .2 and many more have. It sounds much better and can capture the people who won't leave FM.

AS to KLIF, I'd do what others are doing: kill it on 570 and move it to 93.3 or simulcast it. KTBB in Tyler dumped KDOK and is now KTBB-FM talk. They also partly simlucast. Don't like Rush or Hannity? Go to FM and listen to Clark Howard and Dave Ramsey instead! later toward evening its the same schedule on both stations.

However, KRLD HD 2 is getting erratic. One minute it is up then gone for sometime. (Same with the Strip)

I'll wake up in the middle of the night and realize there is nothing there. HD AM is great but my radio is near my 32" Quasar and it kicks it off from time to time. Only about 8 seconds delay on AM HD 2.5 MINUTES on HD 2! if I miss something in the kitchen I'll catch it again in 2.5 minutes in the bedroom! ;D

The 93.3 signal really isn't good enough to serve as a replacement for 570. Even the analog signal has limited coverage, and HD will be worse.

I dunno. Thers a 93.3 in austin I was listening to Friday. Great signal and hd 2 as well. I think it was KGSR-FM. And bleeding from other stations as well.

Dallas has done poorly in stepping up to the plate with creative and innovative HD 2 and 3 channels. I guess the beat their playing it "safe" minds can come up with, is to simulcast. HD sub-channels ... overall a wasteland.... but what else is new in this "hit the demographics" market ? ? ? You want steak.... but the numbers are fast-food hamburgers.
