What Happened to Mark Christopher?

Why do we keep expecting the owners to manage this station? As near as I can tell, they aren't encoding PPM, the audio quality is terrible, and they bring Mark on and then off... Most porta-pottys get more management attention that KMCQ.

Clearly - they are doing the absolute minimum to keep the station on the air until they can sell it. The interesting question is why it hasn't been sold. I know - the price is too high, but the list of buyers is fairly short and they're all in the market. Maybe we have a Mexican standoff (is that polically incorrect?). Lots of ex-radio guys have talked about buying the station - but no one can maximize the profitability like an existing operator in the market.

Either way - Mark will land on his feet.

I've actually been curious about this as well and i've e-mailed KMCQ about this; suprisingly I got a response back both times I contacted them and here's what they told me(I got this in my e-mail April 29th by the way):

first any word on if Mark Christopher is going to be back on the air?(Question I Asked)
No word as we are still restructuring, he is missed by everyone. (Their response)

second, any word if there are going to be any more DJ's hired.(Question I Asked)
No. Who knows this may change, if and when don't know.(Their Response)

if the current programming/format is going to stick around?(My Question)
We hope so! (Their response)

KMCQ going to begin streaming their audio online any time soon?(My question)
Don't know, I know it's been talked about but don't have an answer.(Their Response)

They also said at the moment that is all the information they have; so basically what's going on with them is still up in the air at the moment I guess, although I have heard a show called Ted Alexander's 10,000 Oldies Show on the weekend, I don't know why they are airing this, maybe it's a new show for them or something, I really have no clue. I would love a few old radio guys getting together to buy the station, heck maybe some of them can be on the air too; Pat O Day's still around, although I don't know about any other radio guys.

Actualy the audio quality of KMCQ now sounds like KJR FM or other radio stations, it's greatly imporved in the last couple of months; I think the ideal situation would be maybe someone buying the station and keeping the format on there now and keeping it non-commercial a la KEXP or the old KBTC FM, or something along those lines.

i realize mark is a veteran seattle jock and probably a good talent, judging from all the posts, but his stations have never been a part of my(news/talk/country/rock/AAA) listening, and critiquing. it is interesting to see all the posts about the future of 104.5 here....but you have all set yourselves up for another broken radio heart. seattle corporate commercial radio features only burger king and mcdonalds on the menu, except of course KMTT who does wendys. either way, all you get is fast food corporate hamburgers and french fries on the menu for the most part. yes, i know kEXP, and KBCS does sushi, but, they dont count, only a few eat raw fish bait. when and if 104.5 sells to the next corporate monopoly, what you think you gonna get here? answer: hamburgers and french fries. the sooner this corporate radio market $$ implodes, the sooner guys like bongwater, with his saved up dishwasher job money, can afford to buy a signal and do things the right way. and i can work for him at minimum wage, playing bongwaters playlist.
