What happened to NBC programming while WSB TV carried Atl Braves?

Ok, showing my age here. When I was around 4 to 5 years old, the Atlanta Braves moved to Atlanta. Back then before Turner owned them, the Braves were carried on WSBTV. How did they handle the NBC programming back then. Was it delayed to a later time or did WTCG carry it?

I remember when the Braves were on WSB. Channel 2 carried only 20 games a year, most during the summer months when NBC was in reruns. i can't recall specifically
what the station did about NBC programming but for the most part, I believe it was simply preempted. WJRJ-TV, as Channel 17 was known then, operated on a shoestring budget and did not carry baseball. Ted Turner started airing Braves games after he purchased the station and changed the calls to WTCG. By that time, WSB-TV was no longer carrying the Braves.

They were simply pre-empted. At one point,
NBC affiliates WRCB/3 Chattanooga, WFBC (now
WYFF)/4 Greenville, SC, WSOC/9 Charlotte (now
ABC), and WAPI (WVTM)/13 Birmingham also carried
the Braves, and NBC programs were simply pre-empted
in those markets.

Channel 17 did carry a couple of NBC daytime shows:
"Jeopardy!" and "Who, What, Or Where," as well as
the NBC Wednesday "Mystery Movie." In the fall of
'72, I recall 17 carrying the second game when NBC
had an NFL doubleheader; WSB carried its 6 PM news,
followed by Lawrence Welk at 6:30, and I assume the
revenue was too much to resist.

And yet WSB TV still preempts ABC programming for local fare (e.g. Monica Person's Close UP programs). The tradition continues.
