What happened to the Lite 102.9 '70's Flashback Weekend?

I tuned in Lite102.9 tonight and heard something about a "Disco" special. Is this now replacing the 70's Flashback weekend? I'm asking as usually Lite starts its Flashback weekend at 5PM.If this replaces the 70's Flashback weekend... Boy... K-104.7 is starting to look better and better every day!

Since I work weekends at K-104.7 the only thing I should probably say is thank you, we try!

I have a few friends at Lite but we haven't talked in awhile.

My feeling is both stations rely way too much on the '70's hits. Back when I worked at Lite in the '90's we played more '80 and '90's A/C hits, but it seems that things have changed. :-\

I agree. While I enjoyed the '70's Flashback weekends, I certainly would have liked more variety during the week. It sounds as if Lite 102.9 trashed the Flashback weekend, though. A true disappointment. I'll wait until the HD radio signals become available so I can listen to the 104.7 HD-2 60's/70's channel as well. Any idea when that will be available? What I really like, though, about Lite and K is the fact that they both play "Georgia On My Mind" by Ray Charles. Great choice to add into the playlist. But AC stations of late are starting to, as you said, rely on WAY too much Disco from the 70's. It's noticeable on many AC stations like WLYT, WNIC, and even up at WLTW/New York.Regardless, keep up the great work at K-104.7.

Thanks but I don't consider what I do work. I have fun with it, well as much fun as the format allows for! I could be a real nut on the air if it wouldn't get me in trouble. Even though I'm doing VT's it's still fun. Once radio gets in your blood it stays with you. My interest isn't just programming, I love to watch the engineers do their magic and I have even been known to help them on occasion when they let me.My problem is in addition to hearing Ray Charles do "Georgia On My Mind", I'd also like to hear his "Born To Lose" or "I Can't Stop Loving You". The man had way more than one hit. That also goes for the other artists that both stations play. The disco doesn't bother me as much as Elton John and Billy Joel, both artists get played to death but it's all about research so who am I to argue? ;DOh well my musical taste can be a bit broad even for someone who grew up listening to Top 40!

I'm hoping it's sooner!

Seems the Flashback weekend is now 70's AND 80's. Too bad. Would be nice to have the 60's included as well. Since it is "all about variety." :p

Maybe time to check in on Oldies 90.3 WRBK or K...
