can any of you radio guys explain why pulse 87 is now calling itself the party station and playing all this rap music? and where did all the djs go i havent heard andre nico or borasio on the radio. the new djs dont have a good taste in music. i hate the radio cause the only good channel sold itself out and i wont listen to my radio until they bring pulse back and stop playing rap.
they took all the good stations away and made them into rap stations. 92.3 k rock changed to a rap station now pulse 87.7 also plays too much rap and ktu never played good music.

Long story short, the owners of Pulse 87, the Mega Media Group, went bankrupt and they lost their radio station. They went bankrupt because of debt they had since before the station launched and the bad economic conditions that affected every sector, not because the dance format failed. The stock price never got above a few cents during Pulse's existence and now the stock price is a twentieth of a cent.
87.7 is now leased to the owners of Party 105 in Long Island, JVC and they decided to simulcast Party 105 on 87.7 in New York. It is a completely different station, and yes, they do play a lot of hip hop at times.

I'm glad to see your passion for dance music, and I too hate that there are so many top 40 and urban stations. Give Party 87 a chance, they do play some decent dance music. It's better than having nothing on 87.7.

Katie:
We all feel just like you after losing pulse 87,the new party FM @ the moment sucks.Hopefully Vic Latino one the owners will tweak it more to sound like pulse 87 no more ghetto RAP.If you have an HD receiver tune to WKTU 103.5 HD2 "pride"much better than party FM.Also if you want an exact clone of PULSE 87 listen online to RADIO G http://listen.radiog.org/RadioG-Hi.asx

As was stated the owner of Pulse Mega Media basically went bankrupt, and JVC took control of the 87.7 frequency. They replaced it with a simulcast of Party 105 on Long Island. The station plays a bit more hip hop than Pulse did, but also plays quite a bit of dance as well. Vic the Latino is in control of the station. Party 105 is actually the station Andre was at before he went to Pulse. Some of the DJ's have made their way over to Party, for example DJ Surge is on air now (as he is Monday through thursday from 5-6)

Are you serious?! I loved that station.

I'm from Missouri, an hour and a half south of STL, and it's so hard finding good dance radio stations anymore. My chapter of the National Broadcasting Society went to NYC last year for a week-long convention, and I just so happened to find The Pulse 87.7 when I was searching through the radio. My roommates and I were blasting the music all the time, dancing around our hotel room, and I even listened to it back here in the Midwest regularly.

I was just searching for it on the web, and just found out from reading this that it's "gone". It's my favorite study/homework music!

*sad in the Midwest* :'(
