What happened to Valerie Williams on WFAA-8 ??

For some reason, I just realized she is no longer on their staff. I truly enjoyed her investigative reporting and that she did a good job.

Anyone knows where she went?

She was about the only decent reporter they had left (save Brad "Dollman" Watson) from the Marty Haag era.

Several years ago she was put together a story that didn't sit well with the sales department. The managers at the station spiked the story and she left. She hasn't been on the air anywhere since.

Wow, thanks for the info. I'm sorry she is no longer working there, she was a great reporter, plus, very easy on the eyes as well.

Truly, Channel 8 continues to slide downhill. Marty Haag truly had a GREAT crew working during his watch at Channel 8.

I worked with her in Austin, she is "difficult" to work with at best.

TXNews and Horns, can you elaborate about how come she was so difficult to work with? Was she a "prima-donna" ??? She didn't seem it on camera. Just looked like a very good reporter. Plus, I thought she was pleasing to the eyes as well.

Thanks for the info!

I wonder what she is doing these days ???
Living off of a settlement with Belo ??? :D

Very much a prima donna. She expected everyone from interns to veteran anchors and reporters to realize how great she was and basically worship her. I can remember as if it was yesterday when she wanted a tape brought upstairs to the newsroom and had the nerve to wave down a passing young man by saying, "Boy, run this upstairs." He did, then promptly went to the news directors office to complain about her. Turns out Valerie though he was an intern and had no idea he was a new account executive. I can guarantee you everyone who works there now who knew Valerie has some kind of negative story to tell about her.

Well to me, as pretty as she is, I'd certainly run a tape upstairs for her. :)

I did like her as a reporter, but since I didn't have to work with her or for her,
I see a different side of her than you do.

Maybe if she wouldn't act so much like a prima-dona, she could find another job.
Does her reputation cause her to not be able to find another news position with
another station? I just wonder how long she can go without working?

she was always a favorite of mine after they sent her out to meet the cold front in Amarillo or where ever. She was on live trying to tell how cold it was and could hardly talk and Tracy and Chip were about to fall out of their chairs. It was one of those classic moments and they made it look like a fun place to work that evening.

Isn't live TV wonderful ??

I remember recently there were some people running behind a new reporter as they were giving a live report. Can't remember what channel it was, but it was here in DFW. Made a fool out of the poor guy reporting live.

Wonder if we would ever see a streaker on something like a live report? Now that would be funny !!

Hey, trust me, out in West Texas it gets VERY cold with the wind blowing. I know. I'm from there. :)

Yes you can, just ask Bert Lozano of Channel 8 what they look like up close. They had one on a Sunday night, I was surprised Brad Hawkins was able to keep a straight face when he came back on. You can find the video on YouTube.

Yes, I remember hearing about that...........I wonder if "live TV" on the local level will start having a 5 second delay or something to prevent anything else like that?

One more thing about Valerie. How can someone just stop working ?? Is she married and someone else supports her? You'd think she would eventually need to get back to work to earn some $$$$ wouldn't she ??

All Gray Television stations (KWTX, KBTX, KAKE, WIBW, etc...) have had a 5 second delay during newscasts for about a year now. Wonder when Belo and every other company will catch on.
