What Happened To WKZE-AM?

I was visiting your area over the holiday weekend, and at one point my travels took me to the northwestern section of Connecticut. I observed a sign giving the distance to Sharon, CT and remembered that the town is the site of an AM station at 1020, WKZE-AM. It turned out the frequency was vacant...NYC's WINS-AM 1010 and Boston's WBZ-AM 1030 came in weakly, but still audibly. WKZE-AM's license is still on display at fcc.gov. but the WKZE website only refers to WKZE-FM, although reference is made to radio stationS, that is plural. Does anybody know what happened to WKZE-AM, or was the transmitter temporarily down?

WKZE -AM & FM were sold to WILLPOWER RADIO, L.L.C. late last year or early this year. The studios and offices were moved to Red Hook. WKZE -AM was flipped to Air America talk radio. It has been run very sloppily .There seemed to be no local commercials and nobody paying attention to what was going on. Remember they are a daytime only station; and since the switch, as if the transmitter was on a timer it simply shut off around sundown. There was no legal sign off or explanation; the speaker was simply cut off mid sentence. The legal station Id was also done on a timer cutting into the program, and not on the hour either. I checked on them a few days ago, they were on the air but the signal was very weak. So perhaps they are having trouble; but I wonder if they know or care.

Robin Hood Radio is a joke, I give it 6 months before it crashes and burns.

Paul...robinhoodradio.com is no joke, 75,000-1000,000 hits a month, a total of about 5,000 unique listiners, we have given away over $3,000 in our first giveaway, we are giving away over $5,000 worth of prizes inbetween now and February...and its all volunteer...non-profit. We get rterriffic record service, weplay and break alot of new, indi artists...plus, we stream at 128 KBS, and have more proccessing than most on-air stations. WHDD AM1020 will not be robinhoodradio.com by the way.

The problem with the internet, is the lack of respect people like you give to others. You want respect, but you don't give any. Before you call an all volunteer effort a joke, and in turn, trivilize everyones effort, offer people respect, and maybe you will get some in return. Walker Broadcasting needs a kindler, gentler spokesperson.

I give internet radio plenty of respect, I've been part of an internet station in Connecticut before.

I fully believe i nthe pwoer of streaming media for traditional broadcast stations.

Sorry if offering my opinion somehow shows a lack of respect...
