What happenend to jed the fish on kroq???Where did he go to?Kysr should hire him

Is it because of his age they let him go or was it his decision???

And they say alternative is not a sellable format which is what most radio people tell me but is that true over all except in large cities or does it depend on the sales people? My hometown of louisville kentucky tell me it is not sellable but look at cd 101 in columbus ohio which has been a indie like station for years. But being owned by someone wealthy and refusing to sell doesn't hurt.

Why is everyone asking this question all of a sudden?! HE IS ON KROQ STILL! Sheesh! He is on the weekends, and hosts Out Of Order. He is just getting the same treatment Rodney on the Roq has been getting for awhile now...

That does not count out of order is a syndicated show i mean a regular airshift.

Jed's regular air shifts at KROQ are Saturday Morning: 10am-1pm, Sunday Morning: 9am-1pm, and Tuesday Morning: 12am-5am

Jed the Fish on 98-7?
I don't think he'd succumb to that!
Although, I think Jed would have loved and would have fit in perfectly on Indie 103.1 back in the day!

Jed would've KILLED on Indie! It's funny, I just recently spoke to someone who worked on Indie, and they were saying how Entravision kept offering Rodney on the ROQ a position over there. Apparently, Rodney doesn't get health benefits from CBS.

Even when Indie was still around, it was always treated like the red headed step child at Entravision....the people there lived month to month thinking any day could be their last. The former station manager was in a state of paranoia most of the time. Hard to get guys to leave places like KROQ, no matter how bad it might be for them, for a job that could go away at any time.

I don't think it was really a "step child". We're talking about a station that brought in a load of money, for the signal it was on. EVC just wasn't familiar with alternative music, which is why they left Indie alone for their whole existence.

Kurt St. Thomas?
He started doing afternoon drives in the last month that Indie was around.
I'm surprised I still hear him on KROQ sometimes over the weekends...

I assure you it was. When Rolling Stone Magazine named Indie the best radio station in America a few years ago, it took weeks before anyone at EVC even recognized it and corporate never did anything to acknowledge it. The budget for a marketing campaign tied to that was also killed. People in management could tell you every account that every AE for the Spanish language stations was working on, but they did not even know all the names of the Indie AE's.

Kurt never asked about the tenuous situation at Indie and so no one ever volunteered the information. If he had done his due dilligence he would not have left KROQ to begin with. As it was, when Indie got the4 exclusive on the new releases from Prince, Kurt taunted Kevin W. on the air. I was surprised Kevin took him back.

I'm not understanding this. So, EVC corporate didn't know Indie existed?! So, how did they know where all the checks were going to? Maybe it's just me, but when you see a bunch of big talent headed to one of your stations, I would have noticed...

you are taking what I said to the literal extreme. Technically of course they knew. But as people who were there could tell you, the president of the radio division, wo resided in the same building as the stations, did not even know all of the Indie personnel....but he could tell you in a heartbeat what everyone at KSSE or KLYY was doing. As an entity, EVC lacks vision and focus. When it came to Indie, they had no clue what to do with it, and so they did little. The xample I used was a good one, ifr I do say myself. Rolling Stone Magazine names you the best radio station in America, and corporate gives you zero support and zero money to promote that. But if KSSE wanted to have a sales contest for local AE's, they would fork over cash for prizes in a nano-second.
