What has happened to Gen X Radio?

Just like tv dont you just have hit your target demo? Like I use to love buffy the vampire slayer. It was consistently number 100 but it must hit its money demo for it lasted 7 years. Maybe easy rock hits its money demo for most people say the 12 plus numbers dont mean much. Or it could be bargaining tool saying you will also get easy rock thrown in with your ad buy on djx.

I kind of figured that would happen too. I think the problem is that there really aren't any good call letters available out there for them to use. Last I checked, almost anything that would potentially work with the letters M, Y, F, and L were taken. WLGX is about as good as they can do.

just found out

Gen X was my fav station, as well as many other ppls fav who I know, but I have found myself going to listen to that station lately & immediately trying to find another station. I knew it seemed different & I didn't like it. Finally, today, I realized why...they changed the whole concept! I hate it!!! omg this really sucks x-( I really hope the Louisville area gets another station like that because I want my gen x radio!!!!!

So the latest Arbitron numbers are in... here's the trend for WLGX:

Summer 2013 3.0
Fall 2013 2.4
Winter 2014 2.3
Spring 2014 2.4
M/J/J 2014 2.3
J/J/A 2014 2.2

Now, in all fairness, you can't jump to conclusions after just one month (though radio execs could be), but I can't see this going any higher without something big happening. We probably haven't seen the full effect of listeners they've alienated yet, and I couldn't imagine them picking up any new listeners. Maybe this new marriage of classic rock and new rock at WTFX can move back home... I mean, even they're doing (slightly) better numbers, but at a not-so-great frequency.
