What has happened to KJUL?

Here is a copy of something I posted on the Seattle thread, since Vegas came up.

I was just in Vegas last week and KKLZ sounds good. Love their jingles, love their talk presentation, (as in non-intrusive), and their music, while obviously is heavily researched, sometimes throws in a few left-field hits.

KJUL (The Jewel), sounds tired and sleepy. I used to like this station for its "Las Vegas" sound, but they have severe issues with tempo it seems. Boring, tiring songs back to back. Come on KJUL, bring the tempo back up. I realize this is the Seattle thread. Perhaps time to copy and paste to the Nevada thread.

Wish someone would address reception problems, especially on more proprietary receivers indoors and on west side. Guess their transmitter is toward Mesquite. Even with power boost, 104.3 would intrude. On my Sony when in Summerlin, I tune to 104.75 to avoid overlap.

There is another station on 104.7 FM that is heard in southern Clark County, around Primm, Nevada on Interstate 15, as you head into Las Vegas. As a result of trying to protect the southern station, I don't think the signal for KJUL which is coming from the North (Mesquite) and aimed toward Las Vegas, will ever be any better than what it is right now. My suggestion is that KJUL management strike up a deal with the owners of that religious station and buy it. Then, the KJUL signal could come in from the south into Las Vegas area and get into all the nooks and crannies (signal deficient areas). Or, the religious station on the same frequency could be turned off and the one up by Mesquite have an increase in power. Problem solved... all it takes is $$$ and FCC approval.

Yes KENB, we heard that station almost to Jean, and some boards member stated what station it is. For the life of me can't find a station or LPFM on 104.7. What about Cal Nev Ari station at 104.9?
I think the intruding station heard south of LV is a repeater.
I'd still like to know if KJUL has used it's CP for increased antennae height.

KENB?? No record of that call sign in FCC database. Hmmm If someone could listen closely and see if its a diff call sign...or see what frequency they identify on it. Maybe its some sort of mix (intermodulation interference) going on at Potasi? Just guessing.

KENB was not a call sign, just the ID of a discussion board member. Previously a member identified a repeater at 104.7 somewhere in California that was received on I15 all the way to Jean. I'm puzzled.

From the info in their CP application:
They are as close to KQRT 105.1 as they can get. 88.94 km is the minimum distance they can be from them and they are 89.0 km out. If 105.1 wasn't there they could move nearly 20 km closer and still clear KVAL and KYCE.

K-Jewel 104.7 is full of static on the Strip. It's still listenable if you can tolerate the static. However, there is almost zero building penetration, it disappears as soon as I step 1 meter inside.

I love the slow songs on K-Jewel. It's great the way it is.

Could they get on a translator in Vegas?
